Loved this video! I do not use TikTok so I don't get to see all these little gadgets being hyped up and it was fun to have you walk us through and demonstrate them! I'm very intrigued by the comb although I am with you about the clean it out afterwards bit. Maybe we need an update if you figure out a good way to clean it. If I get one I will probably use alcohol to just wash and clean it up as best I can. I feel like I produce more sebum than most people which doesn't necessarily translate to greasy hair but which does lead me to feel like I get quite a bit of build up just along my scalp. This might be really nice to have and I like that it's not expensive so not a lot of risk there.

Kayley! I have a similar wave pattern to you (very loose waves. I would recommend making sure your hair is suuuper wet when brushing/styling it. I only brush through my hair when it’s soaking wet in the shower, and then right after I turn off the water I add cream and mousse while my hair is still dripping. I’ve been attempting to wavy/curly style my hair for years and I really had a breakthrough when I made sure to only brush shower-wet hair and only glazing/scrunching in product- no raking! Loose waves fall out so easily, so it’s important to lock in the texture when it’s super wet and disturb it as little as possible after that. Would love to see more wavy styling vids from you!

I have very similar, wavy-fine-long hair, and I loved your wave demonstration! What I would do differently is to use the special brush to create the clumps and then gently wrap the hair back up with a dry towel to absorb a lot of the water (it’s also way more comfortable than having sopping hair on your shoulders and back. After at least half an hour I would then gently take it down and diffuse. This would help with volume at the roots as well, since the wet hair won’t pull your roots tight!
I’m not a stylist or anything, just a gal who loves to style her own hair and give unsolicited advice
Love that you’re back to producing hair vids! Thank you and best wishes!

Kayley, I have a similar hair texture just a little more 2C ringlet hair - to get the kinda smoothed clumps you need from that kinda brushing your hair needs to be RIGHT out of the shower, like water dripping out, put your products in right away (I use a frizz eased curl defining creme - one product routine for me) and do the brush through in sections but just note that if your hair isn't fuuuuull of water and product to the point where it full on SQUELCHES when you do your scrunches, your hair is probably too dry, more is more is more with the water as it helps the hair flow better together within the clumps rather than trying to go in multiple directions.

Girl, come over and try some curly hair content! I loved when you and AnnaLaura did her curly journey during lockdown and would love to see natural hair styling return. You definitely have waves going on! I laughed a bit at how much effort you put into using the waver only to end up with a similar result from curly styling at the end.
I've been thinking about buying the Bounce Curl brush for years, but I haven't convinced myself yet despite everybody and her sister in the curl community using it. Trying tools is so much more of a commitment than products; product gets used up eventually, but the tool sticks around forever.

Bounce curl brush tips- if you have fine hair, skip the curl cream. Use a volume foam prior to bushing (will help with keeping it wet enough too) and after you’ve brush styled glaze a gel on top. Then scrunch with purpose, not haphazardly. Microplop extra water out of hair with a cotton shirt. Either use a hairspray before drying, or add another thin layer of gel glazed on top. As a wavy, go straight info pixie diffusing for max shrinkage. Dry with head tilted side to side and upside down for volume. Unless your hair is dry, you can scrunch out the crunch with just your hands, no oil for less product/wet look. Give it another go!

I personally think the volumizing clips are generally useless. They give such a little volume and that can easily go down. I think doing it with your fingers is more efficient and you have more control of it. The comb was interesting! I'll admit I preferred the other side more though due to looking more wavy but the comb definitely defined your hair more.
if there is a way to somehow have your hair more wayvy I say it's worth it.
The other hair tool was my favorite, though the price is a bit meh. Especially since it only has one use. But at least it works with all hair lengths and the results look good

Guys! For most of these products somewhere there is a poor guy in China working aaaalllll day, six days a week with the tremendous pressure of an awful work environment trying to get these products on the market. The amount of work and research they do is. well, what work and research. Spouse over here ends up being hired as patent attorney for some of it. This kind of video is fun, don't get me wrong, but if it's really cheap plastic and doesn't seem to work. there is a big, fat reason. I'm glad some of the products her worked, but just be careful in the. weird, viral hair tools sphere, I guess.

A tip on the bounce curl brush -- you want to run your hair through everything on the brush. The boar bristles provide tension which is key to brush styling, where the edge comb helps with clumping! It's hard to tell from this video, but it kind of looks like you are not getting enough tension on the hair from the normal flat part of the brush with the boar bristles. I really like it for my 2c/3a hair, the brush and a decent curl cream and my hair looks a lot better than if I didn't use the brush! My hair is coarser than yours though!

I have 2c hair and I LOOOVE my bounce curl brush. It definitely takes a few washes to get past the learning curve and figure out how to use it best for your curls (smaller vs bigger sections, shaking vs scrunching, etc) but once I figured out my routine, I never went back to any other method or brush. Definitely would recommend for curly girls (I also love wrapping some sections around the handle for more defined ringlets)

as a fine haired wavy girlie, I've learned that if I want my waves to look good and not flattened out I can only brush/comb my hair in the shower. wavy hair can be very tricky bc the pattern isn't defined/strong enough to hold itself up like a ringlet/curl, so the more u brush or mess with it, the more the wave is disrupted, which is why I don't follow curly routines anymore, only wavy bc we're very different and that's ok!

For the Bounce Brush portion of the video you should give it another good chance. I have never done well shaking my waves, I use the brush to clump and then still scrunch aggressively Shaking doesn’t help me at all! It just comes out stringy and not good. The brush helps me smooth down the frizz and get the product really distributed evenly on each strand of hair and then scrunching helps encourage the curl.

Such a fun video, as always.
I've been out of the curly hair loop for a while, so I didn't know about the Bounce Curl brush, but it looks very promising!
Please try it again, with wetter hair (immediately after washing, less product, and more tension (try going a bit more slowly and be more gentle with the waves. Fine waves are delicate.
I'm feeling invested in your curly/ wavy hair experiments.

The bouncecurl brush. Check Swavy Curly Courtney, she has wavy hair and uses the brush. I think with the brush you have to have extra wet hair and brush it with leave in only. Smooth it first with the brush, brush it a couple of times and then do the definition move. The cream gets on the brush, that distributes it on the strands and helps define. I would apply mouse and gel after brushing.

13: 39 There are such better ways! Chemical exfoliants, friends. Elvive has an exfoliating pre-wash treatment that I really like, and there are salicylic acid shampoos available as well. I have scalp psoriasis, so chemical exfoliants are extremely effective and, critically, gentle. The comb could easily be abrasive enough to make conditions like psoriasis worse.

I use and love the pink volume clip doodads. I use them when airdrying, abd get the best results using the one big clip across my parting (so the parting sits roughly in the middle of the claws. This gives me much more volume than trying to put one on each side of the part as tried here. Just in case that's helpful to anyone. I have fine wavy hair.

Your wavy hair looks so pretty! I love the Bounce curl brush. The secret to the brush is to make sure the hair goes through all the bristles before the clumping edge. You have to keep tension on the hair while you pull through to get a nice smooth clump. Yay for trying more wavy/curly hair videos!

I bought the I bought the volumizing hair clips last year and I'm so glad to see someone doing a video about them. They didn’t work for me. At all. The combs wouldn't stay separated in order for me to get the hair in there! Really disappointing. It’s nice to see you again, Kayley, Melissa.

29: 51 I actually just rewatched SATC and I was like man I wish I could get a Kaylee Melissa video on Carrie’s hair I’d love to know how to do it with products and a diffuser like this video but I’d also love a hot tool tutorial if that’s a possible avenue to get her hair!
