Why billions of people won\'t eat pork Sip: Excellent Adam! It seems like you love making these information-based videos and obviously put a ton of time into this one. I remember growing up hearing about trichinosis constantly from some of my family members. Pork always had to be cooked all the way through to avoid the dreaded trichinosis. We of course ate a ton of fully cooked pork. It would be so hard for my family to not eat it. In fact, I'd sooner give up beef as pork imo has a way better price to utility ratio. It's so versatile too. Roasts, chops, sausage, pancetta, or whatever.

It's not kosher. Full stop. That's why, no taboo, pigs are simply seen as unclean and impure animals in judaism so we dont eat them, animals in judaism need to A. Chew the cudd and B. Have split hooves. Pigs have split hooves but dint continuously eat and regurgitate grass like cows, so they are unkosher.
Many birds are unkosher, shellfish are unkosher, insects are unkosher, its biblical requirements

I remember reading somewhere that pork based foods (including hams and blood sausages) are popular in Spain because eating them proved you were Catholics. Jews and Muslims obviously wouldn't eat these dishes, so Catholics prepared them to prove the purity of their blood (pureza de sangre) and show other Catholics that they are not part of those marginalized groups.

Another reason is that ancient Israelites simply did the opposite of what their neighbors did- so if the Canaanites and Egyptians enjoyed meat dairy dishes such as butter chicken that was a no go for Jews. Along with the mixing of fabrics in clothing, this is something they may have avoded just because their loathsome(to their eyes) neighbors were into it.

(I m a Muslim) my parents told me that long ago, when people ate pork in the summer, and they didn t have fridges so they had diseases and stuff so when people ate pork, they died. So like, now nobody eats pork. Idk how accurate is that but still.

I'm indian i eat pork but my dad doesn't. He lived in the u. s for nearly 13years but he avoided pork. The reason is he ate bacon once and left to office he had the smell of bacon in his mouth all day and got sick of the smell so he hates it lol

The spit hooves and chewing cud prohibition extends beyond pigs it all animals pig is just one. So to say the prohibition is because the pig is misinformed. Pig happens to have those signs but is not the reason why there is a prohibition.

One reason I have an issue with religion is blinding believing in rules for your life because a book says so. Pork is delicious eat it if you like it don't if you don't but don't avoid it because a book says so

I stopped eating pork and beef about 3 months ago. It was more of a health change to prevent issues in the future. I also did it for ethical reasons and will cut out meat in the future at some point.

For me, it is because the pig is the most intelligent out of any animal that humans eat. Sure, I fully admit that it tastes delicious but they are just too sentient for me to treat as food objects
