I am a Brit. and was a Chef. So thanks for the compliment about our Roast potatoes. We also put salt on our roast potatoes when they are about to go in the Oven. That helps them crisp up too. as well as you should not need to salt them when serving them, unless you like a lot of salt. You could also sprinkle them with herbs and put in some garlic cloves prior to putting them in the oven. That is also a lovely way to eat them.

this recipe is ridiculous. the reason people bake their fries is that they don't wanna drown their potatoes in oil. The amount of oil you drown your potatoes in you might as well do it the traditional way. what a waste of time. there are awesome recipes for baking your potatoes without adding so much oil.

I suggest using an airfryer It makes fries so crunchy without deep-frying and it takes way less time than the oven method. You can make other things while making them too: ) and you don't have to do batches

Question, my potatoes were nowhere near soft and fluffy at 8 minutes. They were barely cooked. I ended up boiling them for 15 minutes and I still didn't feel like they got to the point of being soft and fluffy.

Nice Brit here with one slight revision to your great technique: shaking them a little bit gently in the pan just after you drained them after the par boiling, will help get them even more fluffy

Why are people so scared of deepfrying? It is acrually a dry cooking method and is the best way to cook. You just have to own a thermometer and keep the temps between 325F and 400F

Im currently making fries using this method. I am 30 mins in to the baking part. Instead of russet potatoes, I used Sweet potatoes. Will update with my thoughts

Isn't it dangerous to heat oil in 450 degrees Fahrenheit? Olive oil has a pretty low smoke point. Can I use canola oil instead? If so, will it make that big a difference?
