. clean a cast iron skillet? I'll admit a dirty secret of mine. I leave the grease in my skillet in between uses and then give it a good scrub with hot water and dish soap when I use it again. Even if it goes rancid on top it keeps it seasoned and rust free in between uses. This method actually makes it super easy to clean because the cast iron is always saturated with oil, just takes a few minutes to clean and wipe out and there's no bad taste.

Really great, if you like sweet cornbread. We always use oil and milk in our recipe instead of eggs, and no sugar of course; ) (imo, cornmeal has a tad bit of sweetness in it already that's really nice, and honey is excellent on it. Oil probably makes it denser and gives that deep fried taste that you said you didn't like, but I adore it.

As a Florida native, I say sweet cornbread all day. It's the perfect complement to a nice big pot of ham and beans. The savory and salty flavors of the ham and beans are accentuated and brightened so much by a few pieces of sweet cornbread. Then, you crumble some up in the bowl and discover a whole new world of flavor.

Im not really sure whether or not if its safe to put a plastic coated pan into a hot oven. If its oven safe then its cool I guess but otherwise I think small traces of that plastic or other materials of that non-stick coating are going to end up in your food and I dont think that that is a good thing.

It's not a debate in the south whether cornbread is sweet or savory. The answer is whether you don't eat it, or you do. Savory cornbread is the only cornbread a truly southern person will accept. Sweet cornbread is degenerate Yankee filth. What you have in this video isn't corn/BREAD/. You have corncake.

I've got no time for a pan I can't put in my dishwasher. LMFAOOO you don't wash cast iron I mean u might rinse it with water and scrub it with a metal scratchy thing. but no soap Then you put it on the burner, on high, and wipe it out with a paper towel. Then put a bit of oil.

Great recipe. I didn't have a 10, so I used my copper 9 square. It turned out beautifully. Oh yeah, I didn't have any regular sugar so I used some coconut sugar. I cooked spareribs, purple hulled peas with dirty rice. your recipe is a keeper Thanks so much for sharing.

The day I watched this video I went straight to the store and grabbed everything. Cakes gave me a hard time but this one never did. My 13 year old son knows how to make this and all my kids love it. Keep up the great work. Apreciate it

something i've never understood is why use salted butter at all? you can always add salt but you can never take it out. at 1: 30, you show you definitely ride for team S-B. can you elaborate on why you prefer your butter salty?
