The American way of doing organic farming: go back to the ways of the 19th Century. The European way of doing organic farming: use the technology of the 21th Century. There is NO mismatch between technology and being kind to nature. You don't have to create some strange collective to do organic farming. Not that I want to dismiss the work done here. But, not using pesticides is just the first step to a responsible way of growing our food. Short transportation of food to the store is the second step. Very important. If you ship these veggies to the US that's not organic food anymore. Also, eating your own produce? Not very economical or sensible. Eat normal food like everyone else Sell the stuff you growI also found it surprising the lack of education, because farmers in Europe go to university. No kidding. They may have a degree in something, but had relatives that owned farmland and choose that life. Farmers are online and connected and educated over here. I think that is the biggest difference between Europe and the US. Full disclosure: I have relatives that are organic farmers since the early 90's. They are certainly not grabbing their produce by hand Nor are they eating what they grow. They sell it to pay their bills Like normal people. This is just such a romanticized video of organic farming that it borders on falsehood. We can grow food responsible without resorting to this kind of set up

This is very happy and emotional and all, but organic really wouldn't solve any issues we have. It both has to do with organic standards being less ideal than people think, but also that some of the assumptions behind a preference for the idea of organic food are inherently anti science and equally as bad as being anti-vax or believing in the healing power of crystals. I thought it was a nice video, but this sized platform has a responsibility to present the truth, however complicated and nuanced it is

Hawaii is special but not for the reasons most people think. Hawaii is caught in a catch 22. The tourism that comes there brings money, but also the tourists, who make a mockery of the culture and dont respect the land. I sometimes think the islands would be better if they were their own sovereign nation and lived like the old ways without people coming there to take advantage. Unfortunately that may no longer be an option. If you go there, respect the land and the people.

one of the best things about these videos isn't just the respect and enthusiasm Brad brings to every video and culture he gets the chance to visit and explore, but the respect in the editing, like the parts with the chants and singing some people would either cut out or barely show, but they keep a full minute + of each part, and it just shows how different Brad and all the BA crew bring and i love it so much

This episode just pour out my soul into tears, what a beautiful deep sense of love, compassion and communion in this people, just few days ago tragedy hitting us in the beautiful festival of Gilroy, Ca. Pray for all of us, I pray that we can learn this love, compassion and communion between all us human beings. God bless Hawaii and his people. Thanks Bon Appetit for the passion of sharing this to the world.

i love how right off the bat derrik backpedaled and clarified that there is nothing wrong with being a laborer, but that education just expands your options. super cool to so immediately show respect the ppl who put in the work behind the scenes so that we can enjoy the nice things we find in grocery stores. laborers are the backbone of society and we would be nothing without them.

One thing I learnt earlier today is that organic foods have a higher chance of giving you food poisoning. Scientists have discovered higher levels of E coli and other dangerous bacteria in organic food. Largely a result of the use of manure fertilisers and poor processing practices. Be very careful when eating organic food. Google it, you will find multiple studies.

organic farming uses significantly more resources than traditional. Except organic farming doesn't use pesticides, which traditional farming methods have effectively made less necessary through technology and GMOs. Why is this farm so much better? It's all about the size. Large organic farms do not have the same benefits as small farms like this.

I know everyone comes to see Brad being a goof and don't get me wrong I do to. But I've been really glad to see a different side of him and food culture throughout these series. NEVER specially in Hi eat unwashed field greens, any veg, fruit. Slugs and snails carry lung worm and if you eat it without properly, carefully washing it, you get it and it is devastating Your friend should of stopped you from doing that and I hope you dont get sick.
