Molly Baz, the pro chef who has mastered pancake art, survival cooking and the craft of carving Iberico ham, has her work cut out for her this time. We challenged her to learn how to make a raindrop cake, the Japanese, internet-famous, not-really-a-cake cake. Chris M Smalley: How is Molly wearing white after Labor Day? When was this recorded? The TK continuity is terrible? This could have been done in late July. How long until Claire pulls out the dehydrator and gets the challenge to dehydrate a San Pellegrino or Voss? I bet Brad could hoodwink Molly into setting all the stuff up until she figures out what shes doing.

I don't think that guy is the founder of raindrop cake, I'm pretty sure it's a traditional Japanese dessert that he just recreated in New York and made that kit and named it just raindrop cake which will easily interest potential customers. He (and you guys) didn't explain that very well and his vibes felt off for some reason. I'm sorry, I like your videos, Bon Appetit, and most of your guests, but he just wasn't one of it.

kind of weird to make an agar dessert without mentioning anything about how east and southeast asian communities have been making agar jelly cakes forever? the most we got was the founder of raindrop cake in nyc saying he based it off a japanese dessert but the rest of the time was just spent talking about how weird it is and whether or not it's a cake.

You know what would be fun? Try changing up the hosts for some of the series. like Claire doing it's alive, mooly doing gourmet makes, Andy doing the versus eat in a day. Brad trying to do the recreate blindfold video. like change it up for 1 episode

Agar is used widely in microbiology (it's the jello where they grow bacteria, molds, etc, and the scientist who introduced it to science learnt of it through his wife who would use it for cooking Now it's a must-have in every lab. science

I hope I live another 40 years. It should be amazing to see where Molly's career ends up. She gives off a young funky Martha Stewart vibe. She'll probably go on to do great things.

I did this The smell of seaweedy agar agar grossed me out. Theyre basically boob implants however theyre called. Havent watched yet but kudzu starch is the answer
