Join Sohla El-Waylly in the Bon App tit Test Kitchen as she makes cinnamon-date sticky buns. Instead of the usual brown sugar and butter filling, the fluffy buttermilk-laced buns are filled with a cinnamon-scented date pur e. To make these, you'll have to knead, fold, and work with yeast, but the end results are more than worth it. A quick note on substitutions: The places where you can tweak this recipe to suit your preferences (and the contents of your pantry) are the filling and the glaze. The ingredients for the dough, however, are non-negotiable. Sidney: Sohla did a great job making those cinnamon buns and they look great and have me thinking of the ones which the inmates at my last job made for the meetings which was held at the prison each month.

Thank you! Sohla! for explaining the acidity and alkaline interactions with cooking, and coating in oil. This kind of thing I'm always looking for and it seems no-one else in the world talks about them. These kind of subtle but fundamental details are fantastic to see. Have to say the BA test kitchen is the most reliable group I've come across that also have an amazing range/diversity in everything- except quality. Always high quality.

I really would like to know how working for BA has affected the filmcrew. Did they gain many pounds? Because in one video someone said that starting at the test kitchen equals gaining some pounds (sorry, I dont know who said it and which video. How are their skills? Were they good in the kitchen prior aswell and was that a reason to start working for BA? Is it possible to see them in the Test Kitchen Challenges?

if you make these and you want even more depth of flavor you can soak the dates in bourbon + warm water. also would suggest swapping out the dates with raisins (which i usually hate) and adding some rum in there. makes for a bomb bun. edit: also yes more sohla give us more sohla!

My issue with not soaking active dry yeast is that I ve noticed dry little granules of yeast in my bread before. It still rises but it makes the surface of the bread look rough and weird

I was so confused about what purpose date had the title of this video until she actually got out the dates. The Cinnabon first meeting/date at the very beginning threw off my understanding

I have really come to enjoy Sohla s videos here on BA. in addition to her being super-smart, she makes me want to cook. She s been the best promotion to on-camera cast in a long time!

The guy at the beginning is so adorable, I don't know why. Lol I'm gonna make those. Also, I think Sohla videos are some of the best. They're aren't enough of them.
