I loved this review. I have a Kitchen Aid Classic and am well pleased with it. But Jemma, you mentioned the 2 difficencies that I found with mine. The first speed is a bit fast. I have been sprayed with egg and oil and powdered sugar more than I want to talk about. The splatter guard seems pretty useless because the gap to install it on the bowl is so large that is just sprays out in that section. The second is the awkwardness of having to reach over the stand to lock the head in place. My daughter in law told me to definitely use the lock because her Kitchen Aid broke her finger when hers kicked up when she didn't lock it. I had a mixer that had a glass bowl and when I accidently dropped something on it when I was getting ready to make cupcakes ordered by a friend and it shattered all over the place I swore I never would use glass again. That is when I bought my Kitchen Aid. But I will say I have been happy with it's performance. I found your review of the Kitchen Aid right on, Jemma. I hope you do something like this again.

Hello from Canada Great video review all I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Kitchenaid user so won't be switching out anytime soon. With that, your comment on why you can lift the motor head whilst engaged? Many years ago my Mother taught me how to use that feature (which was on her very well used and basic Sunbeam) - when slowly lifting, slowing decrease the speed, and the batter will drop off the beater and reduce the amount of effort needed to release the batter bits. Most times I remember to gear down, but, admittedly, there have been a few occasions where I forgot and had a bit of a clean up; however, for what little it's worth, that is my understanding of why the motor on some mixers can operate when tilted. stay well

I've had both a KitchenAid and the Kenwood KMix which was bought recently; what I would say about the KitchenAid is that it needs adjusting every once in a while and if you don't know how - it can be a bit of a faff and can mess the whole thing up and hence when I was looking for a replacement - I wanted one that was maintenance free. For me the Kenwood KMix is decent and like Sally said its great for everyday baking. I am going to invest in a another paddle attachment with scraper attached. Kenwood and KitchenAid are both extremely reliable - I guess it comes down to overall choice and what looks better in your kitchen

Just wanted to add another comment about the KMix and thats the attachments. I got two the silicone side scraper (similar to Jemmas but silicone on both sides) and the folding tool. Both are great and the slowest speed on the KMix is the folding speed (the red speed icon on the dial. Havent tried the top attachments yet, perhaps you could review a range of attachments for both the bowls and also on the top of the Kitchen Aid and KMix. Anyway, really good review. Totally agree that the Kitchen Aid is the better one but like you guys said, the KMix is great for a couple of times a week baker and can stay on your counter. .

Thanks everyone I have been looking at mixers for a while. I have a Kitchen Aid Classic that my Mom bought me about 8 years ago when i broke my elbow and couldnt use a hand mixer any more I LOVE my Kitchenaid, however. I have now graduated as a Baker and Pastry Arts baker and make a lot of bread. My poor KitchenAid gets real hot after the 2nd batch of bread and the latch doesnt stay down (i use a bungee cord and hook it to the lowest drawer in my kitchen) i think i will end up upgrading to the bigger KitchenAid: ) I was going to wait until the other one died but I have a feeling it won't Lol

Dear Jemma and the gang Thank you for the review and for all the recipes The blueberry muffins you posted a couple of weeks ago made our day down here in Paris under quarantine. Now that it's difficult for everybody I'd like to thank you more than ever for inspiring my home bakes for several years already. I hope all the Crumbs'n'Doilies team will safely overcome the crisis. I would also like to wish a safe delivery to Jemma. My youngest son is only 10 months old, so I remember the feeling of being a blueberrified Violet Beauregarde all too well; ) Take care and thank you again

Hi Jemma from Norway I had a senz kitchen machine before, it was similar to Dains machine. I used it for about 2, 5 years for all my orders like wedding cakes ect. It was very good and it handled all my frequent use, but after it broke i bought myself a kitchenaid artisan. The kitchenaid was such a pleasure to use and so stressfree. Love it But for a baker that sometimes bakes, the machine Dain has, it will do perfectly and it's much cheaper. I also wish that kitchenaid had thought about the slow speed, because it is often needed in baking projects.

thanks for the video, I found it really helpful even though I bought my kmix half a year ago. back then I searched for a video like this because I wasn't sure if I should choose between the kitchen aid or mix. now after testing the kmix for a while I'm really happy with my decision. and the video showed me again that the kmix was the right one for me. I think it will be very helpful for many bakers out there which are in the same position as I were. thanks Jemma for inspiring me to bake, I really fell in love with my new hobby

The Kitchenaid is worth the investment, but treat it like you're buying a car. it really is an investment. I love mine and just used it today. and on Monday for bread. I actually use it a lot for bread. If you do use it for bread, please remember not to go above '2' when kneading or you'll strip the gears or something bad like that happens. It's in the manual. Thank you for doing this video I've been looking forward to it: ) I hope you do more videos like this

32: 53 - well - I never needed a stand mixer - I'm completely content with my hand mixer - yet I've enjoyed your review very much. You did a great job at explaining the pros and cons of each machine and I feel like if I ever wanted to buy one I'd be very well informed now; ) And your stunning personalities obviously helped with my attention; ) I wouldn't mind to see more videos like this in the future. Thanks for the effort and stay safe: )
