Hilah I'm Mexican, my mom use to do re fried beans the traditional way. But the past 20 years.
This is is the way she has doing it. (The way you do it.
Its healthier. and taste lighter and better.
Pay no mind to ignorant Mexicans.
My mom once told me when she was working.
That her boss took all the employees out for prime rib.
All the Mexican complained -Oh the meat looks red and raw, its not cooked-
My mom said -it is cooked you idiots-
Some Mexicans don't don't know better.

I don't have bay leaves or pinto beans, and I'm broke til payday but really want to make refried beans tomorrow. I have black beans (currently soaking, cannellini beans, kidney beans, and butter beans (lima beans. Can I use any of those (or even combinations. I have oregano, basil, chilli powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, cumin, and coriander powder. What would you suggest would make a tasty substitute for bay leaves (all my seasonings are dried btw. Thanks in advance.

What do you have against Mexicans? Anybody can be ignorant. Lot's of people wouldn't know about prime rib. To scoff at people who do not know how to eat prime rib is just elitist. A lot of people wouldn't know how to eat a tamale for example. Why do you have to be so insulting and dismissive towards Mexicans? You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Jerk.

Back in the day my g-ma would make a big 'ol pot that would last the whole week and everyday she would put fresh lard, instead of mushing them. By the end of the week they would be completing mush just from having hot lard dumped into them and they were so yum by the end. But now I just do em like you with olive oil, still f'n yummy!

-mtycris25 Hi! I don't take it to be mean, but the whole point of my show is to demonstrate to people that they can cook without needing a bunch of specialized tools and fancy ingredients. If I were going to be making these every day, I might buy a bean masher, but for me, a spoon works just fine!

Guess maybe you shoulda titled it -White woman makes vegan refried beans, HER way! - Keep speaking up and posting about what matters to you! Your voice is yours, and yours alone, like a bird's song. These ugly grackles will never drown you out. Keep your head up and keep on keepin on.

Ok I must say something. She is freaking super pretty and super adorable and hilarious. The videos are so much fun to watch. She definitely needs her own show on TV and how cool is she because she loves her cast iron cookware. -
I'm signing up to get some stuff in the mail: )

We usually add a few chiles de arbol which are dried red peppers to the oil and then we fish them out. Also a potato masher does the trick to mash the beans. Beware though because the peppers are really spicy. usually 1 pepper is good for 4 servings.

I'm totally going to try this. But why do they call them -refried- when you really only fry them once? I'm thinking it must be a misnomer. It's more like, they're boiled and then fried. I guess reboiled would be kind of gross.
