When the video started I thought, I've NEVER seen Kenka so empty before! So it made sense that you were taping just before opening! I also love the saba that you got, okaka (bonito) onigiri, shiokara (squid + ALL of the rest of the squid, their natto is good, and then more standard (American recognized) Japanese food, although I think their okonomiaki is not the best (Village Yokocho, the next block over, has a superb okonomiaki. Still, Kenka, with its Showa TV themes blaring out of a bullhorn is pretty amazing!

I love the host and that mask does nothing to hide the critic's face. but this place just seems like it relies too heavily on gimmicks to be a seriously enjoyable restaurant. Some of the stuff looked cool and I'm sure some beer would be great there, but, overall just doesn't look too amazing. i have of course, not looked at the entire menu offerings.

Thanks for being honest about eating genitals and not trying to sound all gourmand and pretentious. They are what they are: gristly unpalatable dangly bits. Also, Lucas Paterson is the most natural watchable food presenter I've yet seen.

Izaka-ya food is some of the best. In Japan, many of them have menus so expansive they baffle the mind. I usually just order karaage and a high ball.
