why arent americans into meat piesi think the big question is, How many meat pies do we see in the us? i can't speak for the rest of the country but, here in ny we dont really see much in the way of meatpies. if you want to bring meatpies here, just bring them here. make them, sell them, get the people into them. to ask why we don't eat more meatpies would be like if some asian folk started asking why we dont eat more insects. another thing is that america is such a wide and diverse place that there really is no ONE american style of eating. look at newyork state as an example. the people in new york city have very different eating habits than the folks in buffalo or Rochester. hell, going into nyc again, the boroughs have very different eating habits from eachother. where i live, you go 4 blocks north, and you're in an indian neighborhood, 2 more blocks, and its asian, few blocks south, and you have italian/greek food.

Those pies will never help make meat pies mainstream in the USA, if anything it'll do the opposite. A good meat pie should be something you could easily eat every day. Even she said she only cooks one of them once a year. In New Zealand, savoury pies are extremely common, and are available almost everywhere that sells hot food (e. g even McDonald's. The most common flavours are; mince/steak and cheese, bacon and egg, mince with potatoe, etc. But also very common are fusion flavours that bring flavours from other cultures; Mexican (chilly mince and beans, butter chicken (Indian, etc. But they don't have to be meat either, hense I said savoury pies, one of my favourite pies is spinach and ricotta.

We eat lots of hamburger in America. Please don't bring yet another food into our country. I'm glad you like your meat pies and hope you make plenty of them for yourself and enjoy them. Don't come across like there's something wrong with us because your precious meat pies are not hanging out of our mouths. We in turn, are happy to see that our hamburger chains are alive and well around the world. That's because WE have a global reach unlike any other empire. America long ago eclipsed your beloved England with its meat pies. Enjoy our Big Macs, Whoppers, and Jumbo Jacks. If you want to sit around for hours making meat pies, you go right ahead. We have our own thing, thank you very much.

What nonsense is this? I grew up eating chicken pot pies. Very common where I'm from in the southwest. You can get them at any grocer. Costco even has them fresh(semi. They are on the menu at multiple restaurants around town. My dad has a favorite place in Vegas where he gets one. KFC sells them. Had one with Chili con Carne filling two weeks ago. Cool video though. I think I'll have one for dinner tonight. And beef pot pie are in multiple also. And just because they are leaving he word pot off the title doesn't change anything.

To Americans meat is meat, pie is fruit or vegetable the only American meat pies are pot pies which is just a way to stretch meat by adding it to a vegetable pie bits of chicken or beef but these aren't really that common, when American thinks of pies they generally mean Apple's, peaches, cherrys, strawberries, bananas, pineapples, lemons, coconut and veggies like rhubarb, pumkin, sweet potato, and nuts like pecan, walnut, almond not beef, lamb, goat, chicken or fish! Meat is a main course pie is desert!

Americans are jaded regarding meat pies. Giant Food Corporations have made it a special interest of theirs to put as little actual meat into American meat pies as they could, until we no longer consider them meat pies! Soy extender products, beef by-products, meat-like fillers, loads of congealed gravy to fill it out, its a continuing trend. Must be a part of the MBA culture, where corporate chiselers squeeze life out of products for the benefit of corporate shareholder value.

There are irish, cornish and Welsh families that came in the 18-1900s to work in the mines, along with French, Chinese, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, Romanian, etc, but I digress. Point is the cornish pasty, a wonderful meat pie. Also steak and ale pie, steak and cheese, ham and eggs. Not all Americans are ignorant of meat pies. Peace yall.

Steak and Kidney pies are very far from what british pie making is all about. They have very much fallen out of style in the last 20-30 years. Straight up steak or mince, or meat and potato are the main ones, but there are many more variants. Cold pork in jelly, steak and haggis, chicken curry. I mean those are just a few popular ones, but you dont see snake and pigmy as much these days.

Us Americans have this weird idea that you can do anything with chicken and red meat should be steak, roasts, or ground into a shape. Idk why. But thank anything and everything I met someone who made a family recipe Shepard's Pie. Loved it from the first bite and haven't looked back since. I have tried meat pies and blood puddings and I haven't met one I haven't like yet.

The thing I keep getting from Americans is that a pudding has to be a dessert, and never a steamed pie or savoury at all. That a pie has to have pastry all around and not just at the top or bottom alone or even has no pastry at all, a la Cumberland/Shepherds/Cottage pie. It's infuriating. A good steak & ale pie, pease pudding, buttery mashed potato and thick gravy, heaven.
