Oh my, I would make a trip to Toronto just to come to this place, and I live over 4100 miles away. We want to drive across the northern US and southern Canada in the next few years (provided Trump doesn't get elected and destroy the world, since we are old, retired farts and can do those things. I will definitely add Toronto and Crown pastries to our list of must go places since we will already be close by to visit friends in Quebec. Baklava has been my very favorite sweet ever since I first tasted it as a teenager, far more decades ago than I will admit to.

The United Nations has gone on record stating that Toronto is the most cosmopolitan city in the world and I could not be happier. We recently had a very welcome influx of Syrian refuges and it's just great that they can get foods from their homeland. This looks sensational and I have had some, but not all of these treats. I hope this will encourage all Torontonians, regardless of their background, to visit and partake of this feast. Thank you for sharing this!

Happy for these guys. Let's be clear Baklava is actually Turkish and the best baklava makers tend to come from the south east area of Gazintep, not too far from Syria. As the whole area was under Ottoman rule for hundreds of years the blend of many cultures made foods similar in the areas. If you go to Turkey you will see the Baklava shops that specialize in the beautiful desert.

Will need to check out Crown Pastries but you'll need a car to get to the Lawrence East/Birchmount area. Also Scarborough is a more diverse than central Toronto (i. e. downtown/midtown and North York) since homes are cheaper. Think there are way better restaurant options in the east end too.

Sadly the Syrian civil war will not end until the world realizes that as bad as Assad is he is the only realistic alternative to Isis control. Assad is the Syrian equivalent of saddam. Horrible monsters but the only realistic way to suppress an even worse alternative.

OMG if I ever lived near this shop, I'd get sugar-related disease in no time. Those pastries looks soooooooo delicious! Again thanks Lucas for giving the humane side in every DoaD trip, this episode hits a very touchy subject but you nailed it!

0: 25 I don't know much about middle eastern food but that looks like kadayif or kanafeh and I can't resist those. They're just so delicious. I wish I knew of this place while I still lived in Toronto.

WOOOO Syrian Eater fans represent! I'm so glad Lucas got to try the sweet side of my cuisine. It truly is one of the most unique cuisines out there. Hopefully you'll get to try the savoury stuff next.
