In this episode of K-Town, host Matthew Kang travels to Manhattan's east village to Ik: What happened about that honey butter chip fad is that the factory were burnt down from a fire hazard so that the snack were sold in only limited amount. Before it was burnt down, the snack was kind of a snack that people wouldnt really choose if it is on shelves but only maniacs would. But those ppl were so disappointed by their lost of the snack and start writing how good it was and that got spread out through internet. Then it basically became ppls obsession to find one from convenient stores. Personally, it is not as great as how it sounded. Its just a bag of snack

I was humored by the honey butter chips. I have a friend out in South Korea and it must have been like five years ago when he emailed me asking if I could look for honey butter potato chips in the US and ship them back to him because people out there were going nuts over them and they were constantly sold out. I never found them in the US, but I always wondered what those things tasted like.

That saam doesn't look that good lol. I prefer to eat my saam with the herby bitter vegetables along with the lettuce and pork bulgogi. Also there's no saam jang (sauce) that is made with gochujang and various other additions like chopped nuts and apples. I know that's not what this restaurant is going for but I think there's a LOT lost in their interpretation of modernized saam.

im going to say no to these dishes. they overloaded with flavors on the wrap dish. Soybean paste is pungent, salty and coats your mouth, and they chose to top it off with more saucy chili stir fry pork? of course everyone has their own tastes, but I am going to go ahead and think that the host did not enjoy the dish either

LOVE your work Matt! You're informative, entertaining, and gives us a peek into both your personal food memories and the national Korean food identity, which truly elevates every video you do. I really appreciate the videos and please keep them coming: )

Where Korean food will progress? I'm sure lots of people in Korea would tell you that they've already perfected their food and it's just perfect as it is. I'm sure what you ate tasted awesome, but come on.

love this show. idk tho why korean food as it is isnt considered refine but the moment western techniques are applied suddenly its high cuisine. like western technique is the default for refinement.

Obviuosly this guy hasn't been to korea lately. those leaf wrapped rice are in many traditional korean restaurants. Stop talking about korea when you don't know.

Succulent dishes appealing to the mainstream. Well described Matthew! Time will tell if past and current generation (Koreans) would welcome this style into ones pallet
