Keens is one of NYCs oldest and most storied steakhouses. In this weeks episode of The Meat Show, hostNickSolares delves into the mutton chop, the restaurants signature dish, and one that represents a throw-back to a bygone era. As far back as we have menus, says executive chef Bill Rodgers of the 132-year-old restaurant, Keens has served mutton. The restaurant now serves 500 orders of mutton per week (thats an average of 71 per day

Keens is probably my favorite restaurant in New York. I probably went there for the first time over forty years ago-----back when I could legally smoke a cigar after dinner with a cognac. My favorite meal was always the mutton chop. For lunch, quite often, I would eat in the bar which has a must see painting behind the bar. Whenever friends, who don't know New York, ask where to go, I always recommend Keens. Their clay pipe collection is also a must see. Many well known people had their pipe there, and the collection is on display.

Ok so i think nick is an over the top pretentious knob. when he visits places with more afordable food that common people enjoy often. BUT i think he was made for places like this, the high end restaurants with expensive fancy cuts of meat and weird dishes that respond to an aquired taste and i think that's why some people hate him. I love lucas, he makes great content but when he steps into a more expensive restaurant i think his commentary feels a bit off just like nicks feels a bit off when he talks about cheaper ones

I'm happy to see that Nick is wearing a suit that doesn't look like it came out of the lost and found of a circus. It's still not properly tailored (too loose, should be a tighter fit) and his sleeves are too long (he's about 1/2 of an inch off, and the tie is too small for the lapels. but this is a big improvement. He looks presentable, even though it's glaringly obvious that the shirt he's wearing was not pressed before it was taken out of the package.

Im a flexitarian and try to slow down with meat. Not more than once a month now. Im just fascinated watching this. But actually it helps me in my process of desengaging from meat. The guy is clearly addict to meat. Meat addiction is like tabac or alcohol. And not less dangerous. Kind of disturbing watching him eating all those dead animals. I would recommended him to stop immediately if he wants to get an old timer.

Who is this guy to deserve such a job? Where are the bags under his eyes and the calloused hands? I heard recently of his white supremist past? How can someone be an authority (which fans of the meat show will see him as) on something as culturally diverse and beautiful as food, when once (perhaps) they harboured notions of a single dominant race? Eater obviously knew, but can they explain?

All meme comments aside. You really have to appreciate Nick and the Meat Show. He shows off some pretty awesome looking dishes and actually gives a real honest review on the flavors which is nice. And he helps these businesses by showing off the food and getting people interested in trying it out. Nick and the Meat Show are a blessing to have on YT

This is the place if you are looking for an atmosphere restaurant. I would order the mutton chop over a steak any day and do. Don't live in NYC anymore, but go to Keen's for the chop when I visit. They didn't tell you that it is about 50 but worth it, if you like lamb.

I personally chose to go vegan because I educated myself on factory farming and cruelty to animals, and I suddenly realized that what was on my plate were living things, with feelings. And I just couldnt disconnect myself from it any longer. -Ellen DeGeneres

I have tried this there and it was very good. I never said to myself boy I wish I had gotten the beef! The ears were the only part I used the mint jelly on. The rest was too good to spoil. The cost was about the same as their steaks. Thanks for this review.

The neon green in mint jelly comes from food coloring. If you use a mix of different mints you run the risk of it having a brownish hue. Also saying mint jelly is as descriptive as saying meat. There are dozens if not hundreds of varieties of mint.
