Street food carts get competitive in Colombia. When one vendor adds a product to his or her offering, the surrounding carts add that product and then one of their own. Eventually, hot dogs and hamburgers come out piled so high with toppings you can't close the buns. Join host Lucas Peterson as he tries out the giant arepa burger, an enormous hot dog, and a corn dish piled high with toppings. Pal: I lived in Colombia for a few years and owned and operated a local fast food restaurant. We sold local versions of this stuff by the truckloads. It's cartoon food. looks delightful and fun. taste like a joke after you eaten it a few times when you yearn for some quality food not covered in crappy cheap sauces. They put 3-5 different types of [cheap, low quality, industrial manufactured] sauces on the hot dogs and hamburgers to mask the poor quality dogs and meats. I don't miss 90% of this crap. I do miss the Aji PIcante & sancocho al dia.

Hi Lucas. When I saw you on this dining on a dime. I said to myself I have seen him in a movie. Cannot remember the name of the movie and don't bother asking what was the last movie I watched. Anyway you are so great and lovely. You been to London but you never venture to East Yorkshire. So could you put in a list to come to East Yorkshire and we be so happy to show you around. There is a lot more food in England then just jellied eel. never eaten that stuff. Take care and let me know when you are coming to East Yorkshire, infact I will give you a date.

Colombia has some wild takes on burgers and pizza and stuff. And by wild i mean disgusting. lol. I was in Medellin and at some burger spots, It would be like guacamole, a huge hunk of ham, mayo, ketchup, a huge platano, a burger, a raw onion, like was wild. lol

I don't think this is very representative of Colombian street food. Sure, we have those dishes, but they add a different touch. And condensed milk on pizza? I don't know were she's from, but definitely in Bogota this is not something we do. Weird.

I live in Colombia and have never seen any of these extreme editions of food. It is true that they use varying ingredients but this looks quite extreme and very Americanized.

I don't believe Colombia is one of the most diverse places on Earth. Even compared to other countries in South America (Peru, Argentina, Brazil) it's fairly monocultural.

Shouts out to the metro rail, and shouts out to brickell. A lot of good restaurants down there where the waitresses are soem of the most beautiful women you've ever seen.

Im from Colombia, and I would recommend you try sancocho and ajiaco theyre DELICIOUS. Arepas are tasty as well, theyre usually eaten by themselves, not in a hamburger.
