I have been trying to recreate Shin powder for years. I thought I nailed it tonight, but BONE BROTH. Dude, you have changed my life. (Obviously you are good at ignoring the haters, and I am stunned by how many are here) Asian ramens are a half-step better than American brands, and only just. Maybe that's because Asian countries sell us an inferior product (don't get pissy; Europeans do it with everything from chocolate bars to olive oil. Or maybe it's because no matter what instant noodle you buy, the products still involve unpronounceable ingredients, and some of us like to have some control over our food. Working a little bit more to get a quality, but still affordable and easy, meal doesn't seem like such a compromise.

i upgrade my raman by doing a few things. Not totally portable, but at work or home it boosts. First: spice. ginger, garlic, onion powder, thai chili, etc. Soy packets Second: for better broth mouth feel i add a little cornstarch. Finally: Get a bag of frozen mixed veg. Peas, carrots, and corn mix tends to be good, but Broccoli, edamame, snap peas, green beans or whatever. While instant bone broth or soy sauce are for sure tasty--- they are not really accessible to most folks. Everything i've mentioned can be found in the dollar store. (poundland if G. B)Hope someone finds this useful!

I make mine as such: 2 cups boiling water, I break up a little bit the package of hard noodles so they're not so long and drop in, lower heat just a bit and stir occasionally, add 1-2 tablespoons soy sauce, right as the noodles are nearing done I drop in 1-2 eggs and break those apart a bit as well [but not totally and dont stir too much, want to have small egg pieces in the noodles] and its ready when the egg is cooked, and then pour into a bowl and eat, or if like me and cant eat HOT foods I stir in some ice and cool it a bit. The eggs help make them more filling, and cheap as well.

More of a homemade replacement than an upgrade, might as well just get separate noodles instead of buying ramen packs if you're gonna toss out the flavor packet. Admittedly, I'm not much of a soup guy, so I usually make a dry noodle, with just enough liquid so the flavor can coat the noodles, but the way I upgrade it is to just throw some veggies in a pan and toss it together. Also, Sapporo Ichiban is the way to go for instant noodle packets. Though, at that point its not really instant ramen anymore, more like easy yakisoba lol

Listen, I have read the ingredients lists of over 100 Asian ramen flavor packets and what this guy mixes up is the same or a bit inferior because MSG really boosts flavors. Most of them have some dried meat broth and /or dried shrimp or fish. Do you really think one guy on the internet knows how to beat the entire world's flavor pack ingredients preferences? Think about that.

You made a package of the same stuff you threw out. Now it's less convenient and more expensive. Just buy good ramen or make liquid broth that's good and add the instant noodles. This is the least helpful thing is seen on your show, and I watched you shame process cheese and substitute cheese plus the ingredient that makes it process cheese.

Most of the world doesn't even eat the dirty chicken flavored top ramen anyway. There are ramen that you can't really improve upon with household ingredients (loathe as I might calling bone broth and soy sauce powder that. And IF you're still buying boxes of the basic Top Ramen in maybe you don't deserve any better LOL.

Get the Mama brand ramen. My favorite flavor is the pa-lo duck flavor ramen because of its distinct fragrance. I also like adding adding more topping like cut honey ham deli meat. You can also add a pouched egg too. I typically like putting a little bit of the duck season on the egg white during cooking.

I dont know if instant ramen can be made al dente, but If it can the only way to do it would would be to cover it in boiling water, then put lid on no fire underneath come back 5 mins later. For some reason cooking on stovetop with a active fire always makes it too mushy/soft noodles.

The whole point of instant noodles is how quick and easy you can prepare them. This just defeats that point. If you want to upgrade instant noodles, just fry an egg like a carbonara type of noodle, believe me, it tastes very good. Sorry for bad English, I'm Brazilian
