I am not so sure if it is a good idea to run both of them at the same temperature. The deep fryer measuers the temeparture of the oil itself, which is what cooks the fries in both machines. But in the airfryer the air needs to heat the oil, so there is another heat transfer stage involved which can create a difference between how hot the air is you are measuring and the oil on the fries you are actually cooking with. Furthermore you might need to use a little bit more oil than a teaspoon to toss those fries and toss them during the process once or twice. The question should not be what is the result with identical settings but rather can both machines create the same result which is a radically different question to ask and changes pretty much everything in the experiment.

Wow man. Oil > air fryer in all categories. He tried to make it seem all even. hell no. Real fries are FRIED. Maybe frozen breaded foods with cooking directions for frying, baking and microwave maybe use the air fryer if you aren't in a rush and already have one laying around. But come on. 230 for that vs a normal pot, a 3 bottle of vegetable oil and a candy thermometer (5-10 If you don't already have one. Deep frying seems complicated but once you have it down in a basic pot you can make so many foods with a great texture, exactly how crunchy you like it. Just don't eat fried foods for 3 meals every single day. Everything in moderation. No need to buy a 230 piece of equipment to clutter up your kitchen when you probably won't use it more than once a month.

just try shaking the fries when the timer hits half. also a airfyer is good for baking bread, breaded fish. cake, cupcakes, heck even a apple PIE. its worth it. on the long term you save lots and lots of cost on OIL. with 500ml (0. 5 liters) (cost 2 euro, for olive oil)you can do a entire year (maybe even 2) and that is with daily usage. (1 person)with a regular fryer you need to change the oil every 4 months. oil cost around 5 euro's for 3 literyou need 4 liters for a regular sized one. so that would be around 25 euro's for oil each year. a fryer cost around 40 euroa air fryer cost 120 euro (cheapest model)so after 3 years you are cheaper with a air fryer than with a regular fryer. and i did not take in accoun the horror of cleaning a regular fryer

I know people will say that classic fries are good once in a while - but that's the point. Once in a while. I want to get good and regular use out of my appliances, which means eating healthier more often. If I want classic fries, I can go out for some, since I would only eat those maybe once a month. A good trick is buying those frozen fries at the grocery store, since they have some oil in them already, the airfryer eliminates a surprising amount of that oil and you honestly can't taste or see the difference between if it was airfried or classic fried, so it's ultimately a tiny bit healthier and as simple as it gets.

I just cannot get myself to waster so much oil in order to get crispy food that I know is fattier than is strictly necessary. Deep fried food is a guilty pleasure that I don't mind enjoying at resturants. I don't need it at home. If I really crave crispy potatoes at home, I'll pan fry some wedges until crispy on the outside and cooked through. It's a bit more work than set and forget deep frying, but tastier than oven frying. The mini convection oven is appealing to me as a concept, but my day-to-day diet doesn't include a lot of baked food as I mostly eat pan seared veggies, rice, pasta, and occasionally chicken.

I payed a lot of money over the years for well designed deep fryers and I hated them all in the end. Sure they did their jobs well but given their highly specialized occasional use they are no worth it unless you use one at least once a week. They have a lot of other issues when they are not frying. I am willing to try an air fryer because I feel I would use it a lot more.

1) The one thing that has always concerned me about a classic fryer is what do you do with the used oil? Some cool it down and store it for later, but that only makes sense if you tend to have fried food regularly. Also you can't reuse the oil used for fried chicken( meat/seafood. 2) What is the point of an air fryer when it just mimics an oven. What a waste of money.

you compare only the timing of cooking. the traditional fryer you need to heat first the oil and wait till become hot but air fryer just put your fries and Go. i will teach u also how to use air fryer. in french fries we are not using oil it just a potato and while u cooking it u need to shake every 10 minutes. the result it will be perfect a healthy delicious.

I don't get the point of this video. Which fry tastes better? Obviously the oil fried one. It's about not clogging your arteries. No one's sitting there wondering whether submerging something in fat makes it taste better. And you can get air fryers for much cheaper than 230 with the added bonus of not having to dispose of all that oil when you're done.
