Testing out the 300 gadget in this episode of The Kitchen Gadget Test Show is host Esther Choi of New Yorks Mokbar, who is grilling chicken, hamburgers, and vegetable skewers. In some cases, the Philips Smokeless Indoor Grill comes through on its big promises. But if the best parts of grilling include being outdoors in the warmer months, hearing hamburgers sizzle, and getting to the perfect Maillard reaction is this 300 kitchen gadget worth it?

I'm gonna personally destroy all the baby boomers and Gen Xers in the kitchen gadget test show's comment section. always scroll down and see a bunch of people going THIS WOMAN IS INCOMPETENT BECAUSE THIS GIMICKY KITCHEN GADGET DIDNT WORK. CLEARLY SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO READ like shut UP! its youtube! eater is a news site, they know how to read instructions and esther choi is a professional chef. its called EDITING. they aren't going to add an extra 5 minutes to a video of her waiting for it to heat up to prove to you she read the instructions, you're all so entitled. go watch some 5am infomercials if you wanna hear how great the product is instead of an honest review.

Very unprofessional review, yet pops up first on Google search. Like others said, before making a review, please take a bit of time and effort to actually understand what you are reviewing and how to use it. Having said that, I am not trying to imply this grill is any good. I am seeing a lot of it being listed on ebay as certified refurbished - a clear sign this unit has some quality issues or does not function as expected. Also, there is a very similar unit made by Tenergy, even pictures are almost identical and it sells for less. Not sure who stole the idea from who. Likely, they have a very similar build and quality.

I have this grill and it's fantastic. She is not following the directions. Need to heat it up for like 10 minutes if you want the char marks. Also, don't just season, but marinate everything (even burgers, and you will get amazing results. For beef, I marinate overnight in Worcestershire sauce and a few drops of liquid smoke. For chicken, try marinating in zesty Italian salad dressing overnight, and use thinner cuts, or butterfly them before cooking. This is a great product, it just needs to be used correctly by someone with a brain.

I have this and this cooks my steak very well. There is a reason why she did not hear that sizzle. as with any grill, the key is to let it PREHEAT. With this do it for about 10 mins or more. When you put your steak on the grill you will hear that sizzle and grill it as you always do. Steak comes out as if you were cooking on your outdoor grill. I use this during the winter time or when I just don't feel like using the outdoor grill.

Omg! Am I the only one that was annoyed by her review of this product? She says she tells her chiefs five second rule I really hope she tells them to PRE HEAT. How in the WORLD DO YOU WANT A SIZZLE IF YOU DONT PREHEAT THE Grill. lol same thing will happen with the propane or charcoal grill. i actually purchased this product and LOVE IT! Im sure she is a very nice lady. but she has no concept of grilling

Ive been using this grill for a few years now, and it absolutely does the trick, especially if you live in an apartment or condo building that doesnt allow traditional grills. Ive grilled everything and you absolutely get the grill marks on those burgers and steaks. i also have the rotisserie chicken attachment that will spin the whole chicken on above the heat and it comes out BEAUTIFUL

Medium rare burgers aren't really safe. The inside of the beef is generally safe to eat rare, the outside might be dirty from the meat handling, so the outside must be cooked. With ground beef, however, the inside and outside are mixed and the contaminated meat is on the inside as well. Therefore burgers must be cooked through to be safe while steak is safe to eat rare.

Suggestion: Do your homework (read the instructions. Make a new video, retest and pre-heat this time. Every other YouTube test I have seen for this grill clearly shows that it sizzles and has perfect grill marks. Also the grill is not advertised as 'smokeless' but as 'smoke-less'. (subtle difference) The latter means 'less smoke' and not 'no smoke'. So many errors in this video.

I always get grill marks on mine and meat looks nicely colored! I do rub my meats with seasoning in a bowl with some kind of oil but I did that will outdoor meats too! It's just as important to clean the glass on these infrared grills I shave mine clean with razor blade! :p I never read the instructions but I did figure out you do need to let it get really hot!

Here's my experience with indoor grills. You can either have one with fierce heat, which is going to give you good results, but will also fill your kitchen with all the smoke and smells of grilling, or you can have a smokeless grill, which means they keep the heat low. No smoke, but subpar results. I don't think it's possible to have both.
