Wow I was shocked about the result on Claphalon. I have been cooking with some Calphalon Elite pans for 3 years. I assume this is the high end branch of this brand. Everything works very well since I don't do non-oiled fried dishes. I forgot to turn off the gas stove after cooking for twice and left those pans on stove for 1-2 hrs. I found some white powdery residue on the bottom of the pans, except than that, everything works still well so far. I guess Claphalon is good for high heat cooking, ok for dish washers?

Basically ALL non stick pan is PFOA free, it just means pfoa wont be presented in the final product, not because they dont use pfoa in making it, they just evaporate to the air. What you need to worry about is PTFE, thats the harmful stuff that is in every Teflon non stick pans, but without it it wont be non stick, if the PTFE gets destroyed by metal, or evaporated by high heat, the vapor will make human sick and kill birds. So be gentle with your non stick pan and try to get your iron pan to be well seasoned.

i am a cooooooooooooooker annd i only use the non sticker panb because my cookie is not stucked to the pan, it is maked the food many less black and burned but it also make the canceros virus honda according to my doctor in my house, but both of the ways it is not a bad idea to use such a cooking pan because the cooking is decent in the long jog.

I have found that the thickness of the metal is critical. If a pan is thin, it will overheat and warp easily. Thin pans will often warp when you deglaze and after several times you have a nasty wave in the bottom of the pan. I'm currently using a Green Diamond pan (30 from WalMart) and it's doubly think on the bottom. Great so far after 6 months.

calphalon uses a different non stick coating, it's less non stick than regular cheapo non stick pans. they last longer but they do not do same non sticky-ness, if that's a word, like cheapo pans do. all clad uses also a different coating but obviously a better non stick coating than calphalon, and should last longer than the calphalon

I've purchased all of these. The All-Clad handle sucks and is super uncomfortable biting into your hands without a handle cover or a mit. The Tfal is good and I've had good luck with OXO Good Grips non-stick pan as well (thinner, lighter, cheaper, but cooks great and has outlasted more expensive All-Clad's. Great test!

I think this is one of the best demonstrations Ester has done, and the steel wool and metal spatula tests go some way toward durability assessment. Personally, however, my well seasoned cast iron and carbon steel skillets are so slick I have no need to get a dedicated non-stick pan, but I appreciate the video.

Crap I just bought a Calphalon set, it is the higher end oil infused version. I havent even taken it out of the box. I have had the T-fal in a different shape/style and it works well to start and then it starts to stick. I think your way of buy cheap and throw it out is the way to go with non stick cookware.

These types of tests are never without biases. This one is undisguised advertisement for Tefal. Notwithstanding, I am in the market for a Calpahone or All-clad. All non-stick pans, however proven or reputable, should have a coaxing of cooking oil or butter to begin cooking, unless it's an air-frying stunt.
