Sloppy Joe's are made from ground beef, period. If you wanted to add some ground chicken, or turkey that might be OK. My Mother taught me the best sloppy Joe, closer to a sloppy stroganoff. Pan fry 1. 5-2 pounds lean ground beef just until all the red is gone, a little pink is OK. Season with salt and pepper while frying. Drain fat if there is any, shouldn't be though if you used lean ground beef. Add a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup (no water, stir and re-season to taste. Stir until it starts to bubble This cooks the beef the rest of the way. Spoon a heavy pile over a good, soft, fresh hamburger bun from a bakery (not the gummy cheap buns from the bread isle at wally world that it looks like Chef John used. Speaking of bread you can use a thick sliced whole wheat bread that has been lightly toasted. Add ketchup to taste. I like a slice of American cheese on mine, but not required. Serve with potato chips and carrot sticks or a dill pickle or both. It is better the next day. Just add the ketchup or some real butter before re-heating to add some moisture.

Sorry don't know where you get your terminology from, but a sloppy joe is beef. You can call a barbecue chicken, or you can say pulled chicken or pulled pork.
They must have talked to wrong in culinary school, oh well they expect they use terminology from the French. When it actually was the Italians that taught them how to make good food.

This is definitely a technique video. You can also dump it all into the instant pot and slow cook it. I make variants of this with an Indian butter chicken sloppy joe or a spicy curried lamb/goat sloppy joe. Basically pick any of your favorite simple curries from around the world and slow cook them like this and add them to sandwiches. Heaven.

For those of you or us that are suffering from 100 plus degree weather the instant pot can do this in under an hour, use saute function then high pressure for 35 minutes if it's too wet after you're done put it back on saute to evaporate some of the liquid.

Having watched ITYSL recently I was expecting this recipe to be ordering chicken at a restaurant, dumping water all over it and the table and eating as much as you can of it before the staff throws you out. This is good, though.

I think I shall make this one this coming week. Wanted to make the salad as well but can't find the recipe. My bother might like this recipe since he liked sloppy joes but he has gotten where he can't eat beef any longer.

Thank you for giving voice to the Down with Dump movement. Next, let's go after the trend toward calling everything that's really good, Crack. Unless there is an actual crack involved in the appearance of the food.

I make something similar. But instead of hot sauce and brown sugar, I add Asian sweet chili sauce and sometimes a squirt of creamy horseradish sauce. This, too, gives it layers of flavor.
