Learn how to a Spring Vegetable Tart This easy, but show-stopping, fresh vegetable and cheese tart is easy to make, and would be perfect for any special occasion brunch or meal. Like maybe Easter? Sophie Loves Sunsets: Great recipe Chef John as always I've made this for dinner tonight and it's bringing a little summer into the house on a rainy New York day lol. I also like to add some cherry tomatoes to spring veggies just because they add some extra delicious sweetness and they look great on any salad topping. This recipe is perfect for summer evenings as it's so refreshing. Veggies, cheese filling and pastry really are a lovely combo

But tomatoes aren't vegetables, they're fruits - some quasi-intellectual halfwit. The concept of the tomato as a fruit only applies to botany, not within cooking where the tomato is typically considered a vegetable. The botanical definitions of various plant segments is simply not useful to cooking, and so the correction is pointless.

I am musing that baked veges, carrot, onion, asparagus, squash, beetroot etc. Might make a good first layer over the baked cream cheese filling. Two rings around the outside to hold more. My mom used to make personal sized puff pastry bowls like that. Filled with chicken a la king. Yummy I will certainly try when fresh veges come in.

Doesnt using a word like pricking demonetise the video because YouTube thinks it might be rude? The difference between knowledge, wisdom, and philosophy: Knowledge is knowing tomatoes are fruit, not vegetables. Wisdom is not putting them in a fruit salad. Philosophy is debating whether or not ketchup can be considered a smoothie.

Honestly, this dish is Art. I've never seen the round puff pastry. I'm curious about the olive oil; I know full well that there's a wide variety that bring so many different flavors to your dish. I learned that from an artisinal goat cheese maker in Maine; she's the only one who has ever fed me goat cheese that I enjoyed.

Chef John, please, please do a Food Wishes treatment of Kolaches; people outside of Texas (and the Czech Republic, of course) seem to have the mistaken impression that you can just take a lil' smokey and wrap it in some biscuit dough, and call it a kolache. that is most certainly not the case

Sad to say, I don't like goat cheese. I joke that I can tell exactly which nanny it came from, and who her billygoat boyfriend was. I feel about goat cheese, the way cilantro haters feel about cilantro. Maybe I'll use a delicious Greek or French sheep's cheese instead.

I've been making a version of this for years with canned crescent rolls and uncooked cream cheese. Definitely going to try your fancier version soon I probably won't pile the veggies so high though since it is a PITA to eat even with a thinner layer of veggies.

Doesnt do it for me, looks way to crowded and wild. Also not nice to eat as everything just falls off it. Could be nice if the vegetables where bound in that cheese mixture maybe. As is this is just an annoying to eat salad. But that is just my opinion.

My mom makes the basic version of this: Pillsbury crescent rolls flattened into rectangle, cream cheese mixed with powdered ranch dressing as well as regular ranch to thin it out, whatever veggies are in the fridge
