I stopped eating animal flesh during my first year of medical school when I took neuroscience; I learned about the Spinothalamic tract (Pain pathways, Nociception (Pain receptors, Amygdala (emotions - Fear, Hippocampus (Memory) and Prefrontal cortex (Personality) are all evolutionarily, anatomically, physiologically and biochemically preserved in non-human animals. Now I'm Vegan. Why aren’t you

One of the many things I love about Chef John's recipes is how it's more about learning techniques than just a single recipe. Though I watched countless of his videos I usually cook without following recipes, but I always use the knowledge I gained thanks to him over more than a decade since I first discovered Foodwishes!

I have learned to cook from Chef John over the years, went from not being able to boil water to serious cooking. I'm no longer afraid to go for it, from scratch recipes and my own trials. My family and I thank you Chef John! They'll ask with any new recipe, is this a Chef John You've helped so many of us, thank you again

There is Nothing 'natural' about eating animals in this day/age. Natural' is defined as not man-made. Animals we eat are
a) forcefully/systematically raped/bred
b) domesticated (not wild)
c) fed unnatural antibiotics/hormones
Eating meat now is Not natural’ at all.

As a Harvard educated medical doctor (Pathologist) and reading about the social, cultural, environmental, ethical, economical, pharmaceutical, medical and compassionate tenets of Veganism, I have concluded that Veganism is not merely the future; it is the Only future.

Now my leftovers feel inferior and I'm hungry again.
Great recipe, or rather technique. I forget to make compound butter, but it really is super easy and can be used in so many ways to make so many dishes better. Thanks for this one!

realistically, cowboys were eating pork knuckle stew with a side of beans and some toast to dip in, with a cup of the most rancid but potent coffee you have ever tasted, but I'm sure the butter steak toast is absolutely delicious lol

Love a delicious compound butter, this looks tasty John. I’d probably add a poached or fried egg, just because that’s me cooking lol. Thank you for the recipe, hope you have a great weekend!

This is probably of those peak looks complicated and impressive, but anyone can do kind of recipes. Turning really basic ingredients into something really nice for yourself or a loved one.

As you took that first bite, I had an idea. you could probably cut these in the bite-size pieces and skewer them with bamboo toothpicks. What a great appetizer idea

This butter. Amazing! To say this would be good on anything! requires a test on something difficult. FISH. And YEAH, it would even be fantastic on fish!

I love how approachable Chef John's recipes are. I'm always nervous about cooking steak but I could totally make this. He's the best

When I was riding the range in the old days, I always carried a jar of Grey Poupon and a botttle of Avacado oil in my saddle bags.

I love you but I was a little disappointed you didn't say around the edges twice. Edges deserve the same respect as the outside.

Personally. I'd replace the lemon juice & zest with either lime or orange. Lemon seems to be overused. in my opinion.
