If you haven t got a failsafe soup recipe in your arsenal than look no further than this tasty offering from Vegetarian cook Anna Jones. From one batch of sweet potato and squash soup she creates three different serving suggestions that will see you through the week. Blend and drizzle with chilli and thyme oil for a more refined dish or spoon over brown rice with a cool dollop of yogurt for something more filling. Or simply leave the soup chunky and mix through with cannellini beans for a heartier alternative. Delicious, versatile and healthy. A must have recipe for anyone wanting to eat well and save time in the kitchen. For the perfect start to 2016

WHY do so many women cooking on these shows have their HAIR hanging over the food? My mum was a chef and it just burned her bum to see that long hair hanging over, even touching the food! I was taught by her that your hair is pulled back completely off your face. period. There are hair styles that look good pulled back so you don't find a two foot long blonde hair in your soup. Ewwwww gross.

What a versatile soup! I will definately be making this. I love soup but I get bored of foods easily and am always looking for recipes that I can change up. I already see the chunky soup with kale instead of spinach, subbing pumpkin for the sweet potato. I would like to ask, was that koriander/cilantro that you garnished the last one with or parsley? I am thinking koriander would be delicious.

Looks YUMMY! I love vegetables too. I don't eat them because they're supposed to be good for you, I just love them. We go to this place on Saturday for dinner and I get spaghetti with garlic and oil and tons of herbs and on the side a huge platter of broccoli with garlic and oil and it's DEEP green and al dente! YUM! Your soup looks delicious. I'll try it!

I saw her dumb whole spices into her soup instead of dry frying them and then grinding them. Then immediately started peeling a sweet potato. The skins are the best part! Also she should have put her chili time oil at the bottom of the bowl and ladled the soup in, I am aware she put it on top for presentation.

Sorry in advance for this beginner question: vegetable stock. How? What base is it? Also I've only bought squash once and couldn't even crack it open! Any tips? I'm very much a stew/hearty soup kind of girl, really would love to try these! Thank you Anna and Jamie! I'm hooked on FoodTube.

She didn t peel the squash! but did peel the sweet potato! Really? Never would have thought to put thyme and cumin together or thought it would work well together. I ll have to try it and see what it s like. Like the stretching of a recipe Idea.

I love soups but the pureed soups, I just can't get into. I think its because it reminds me of warned baby food that you'd get from the supermarket ( chicken and apples, butternut squash and chicken etc! I know that probably sounds crazy lol

Loved the depth of flavour in this soup recipe. So simple yet so satisfying! Personally I like a bit of bite in my soup so the second time I made it I only blended it about three quarters for the chilli oil and brown rice options. Beautiful!

Oooh, I love making my own butternut squash soup but am going to try this version. Interesting that you didn't peal the squash! I always have assuming that I had to? Would defiantly speed things up if I could avoid it.

Ain't no way in hell that's a soup. That's a main course. It doesn't have enough liquid, it's not runny, you put any piece of meat next to those beans and it's a main course in it's own right. Soup? LOLLLLLLLL
