Hi guys! Today is the United Nations World Food Day. It's all about making sure that people around the world have access to enough decent food to lead active, healthy lives. This is something very dear to my heart as it's also five months since I started my campaign for food education for every child on the planet - Food Revolution day. This is important stuff so please hear me out! I'll be taking my message of action to the G20 summit in a few weeks time. Thanks to ALL of you who signed our Food Revolution Day petition at we still need more to make the message heard! And if you live in the UK ask your MP to consider a tax on sugary drinks to improve our children's health at. Read about the sugar levy and Children's Health Fund in the UK at Join the conversation around World Food Day with #WFD2015 If you're lucky enough to have regular access to high quality food then please put it to good use. Thanks Jamie, I didn't know it was World Food Day until I looked at Instagram but this message that you are spearheading along with others is VITALLY important. Disease due to improper diet is probably more than the 80% of illness, but our attitude in our governments, society and even among our friends and family has got to change. Eating, the best diet possible has changed my family's life and those who haven't changed are unfortunately no longer with us. Diet has helped one on my family members recover from illness faster and changing their diet has helped them heal from childhood and adult aliments. Again, thank you so very much for all that you do. We continue to support healthy eating, local produce, local farmers and seasonal organic food as part of our human rights campaign that we wage with every dollar spent.

A lot of people are starving in the world, while a very small percentage is binge eating and getting stuffed on fast food. At the same time we have vegan celebrities that have no problem whatsover to entertain a small zoo of dogs and other animals. Of course their fans want the same. Why do people feel good about feeding a dog every day, while protesting against war migrants and immigration at the same time? I love dogs, I really do, but in the 30something years I've been around, I've seen everyone getting dogs and the numbers keep increasing. At some point we'll have to decide for one or the other. I don't think pets have a priority over humans, do you?

I like your campaign about kids getting proper food education. I've shown my mom your Ted talk video about food, and she talked to someone who works in a school system about getting food education and heathy food in schools. I think in their minds the fact that most kid don't like to hear the word heathy because they tend to associate heathy with tasteless (I think anyone can attest to this), and it can get expensive so schools are more reluctant bringing in heathy foods into their cafeterias, but I think schools reached out to the parents I think they'd be willing to donate money to the cause.

Hello, Mr. Oliver. I've recently started eating pigeon (or, as I like to call them, city pigeons. They're a free edible and surprisingly delicious food source and were eaten by our grandparents or great-grandparents before people decided to start consuming chicken en masse. I went to your website and was delighted to find a pigeon recipe. Unfortunately, it was so poorly written, with odd measurements (or no measurements as the case might be, that I don't dare try it. I've left two messages for the member who posted it with no reply. Can you provide any help with this matter?

I love how passionate you are Jamie. Your devotion to our future generations is to be admired. Schools in the US teach nutrition but it's only an elective class so not everyone can benefit from it. I learned so much from culinary school but I wish they had focused more on nutrition. From one chef to another I admire you and all the work you are doing. I hope they do start a tax on soda because it is such a waste. Our future generations are worth fighting for. Much love and respect to you Jamie. -Melissa-

Here in the U. S. we now have a national health care program as well. Not that great but its there. A lot of states are trying to impose a tax on sugary products like candy and soda drinks. But some only want to add it to people on welfare who are getting foodstamps. I can understand part of the reasoning but at the same time lack of education, in my opinion is a bigger issue not health care. Teach people to eat health and you will not have as many health care issues to deal with. Julia

nooooooo jamie. dont tax MY SUGAR, its GOOD FOR ME, energy drinks aka MY FOUNTAIN OF HEALTH AND YOUTH are expensive enough as they come! okay, and on that bombshell - where's my diabetes, heart condition and erectile dysfunction medication. (did you ever do a vid on the COMPLETE ACCIDENTAL AND RANDOM mutual usefulness of big food corps and the pharma industry? no? no need to do one, the pharmaceuticals are in most of processed food anyhow, haha) you're a great guy, jamie.

Why not also highlight how this government is punishing the poor by driving 1 million people to use food banks every year as part of this disgusting conservative government austerity scam where the 1% richest are getting richer with more tax breaks and children are starving and malnourished because their parents have to rely on food banks, its disgusting in a rich country like ours that they always find money for wars and armaments though

Not sure what to comment, other then this seems blatantly obvious. Of curse we should have food education! It's ridiculous to argue against it. If children learn to respect good food, they'll want to buy better food when they grow up, they'll want to support positive agriculture, and they'll want to support other people in the world who doesn't have good food. The problem is ignorance. The solution is awareness.

Hi jamie, I'm a big fan, however, it's a bit unrealistic to think that all the tax money will be allocated. 1 billion sounds great but as a business owner in the retail sector all the big names are moving into less sugar as they see the tax as inevitable. Then you have politics gread, if 2p of the 7p got the where it needs it would be a mirical. I'm not a scenic really but I see it all the time. In Ireland.
