Korean rice dessert drink (Shikhye: )
video description
But since i couldn't find barley malt powder, i replace it by boiling plain water with barley grain. & i just used my leftover rice to mix with the barley water. really refreshing when served with ice.

Wow, this sounds like it would be really good to have when you just want to sit outside on a day where the heat is really bad. We've been having 90+ degree (fahrenheit) weather here, so this would definitely be useful for cooling down in addition to being delicious!

This might be a dumb question. But can you reuse the malt powder that sedimented at the bottom of the bowl after pouring off the clear liquid? Can you dry it out and reuse it to make another sikhye?

Maangchi, what is the major taste difference between Shikhye and Makgeolli? I can buy Makgeolli in a Korean market nearby but never say Shikhye and would love to try to make it!

I love drinking this stuff but it's soooo time consuming to make. I'm lucky if I have it once a year but wish I could have it more.

Since I do not have a rice cooker to ferment the rice, I bought a can of Shikhye to know what it tastes like. Must be delicious!
