The weather is getting colder, so it's the perfect time to light up the fire pit. I will show you an easy and simple Charro beans recipe cooked over an open fire. I will also make soft homemade fresh flour tortillas. The cooking method I will be using is great if you are cooking outside or camping out. Ingredients 1lb pinto beans (pre-soaked) 12 oz bacon 1 small onion 2 cloves of garlic 2 Roma tomatoes 1 or 2 jalapenos fresh cilantro 1 Tbsp chicken bouillon salt to taste 2 1/2 to 3 quarts water 4-quart pot SOFT FLOUR TORTILLAS INGREDIENTS 3 cups all-purpose flour (400 grams flour) 2 tsp baking powder (7. 5 grams) 1/3 cup butter, lard, or shortening (65 grams) use only 1/4 cup (59 ml) if using oil 1 tsp salt (5 grams salt) 8 oz hot water (236. 59 ml water )

Ah, you are making me so want to get my new fire pit built and working. but that won't be until next summer as I have a foot of snow in the back yard. I have manage to get a chunk of 24 bridge pile casing to make it from. It will be a bit more crude / rednek then yours but I also have a friend who is a black smith to make the grills and swing arms. Ha, your stuff always gives me good ideas, thank you for what you do.

My favorite thing to use to cut bacon is my kitchen scissors. Super fast and easy. Also, I don t know if you ve tried it yet, but an instant pot is my favorite way to cook beans! I was shooketh! Very little breakage and super quick! No soaking required, done in 45 minutes! I love your tortilla recipe! I have your cookbook and have made them a couple of times.

Two of my comfort foods as a child. Charro beans and tortillas. I can remember doing alot of cooking outside with my Nanaita outside because she didn't have a stove inside her house because where she lived in Juares Mexico. Thanks Angelica for bringing a wonderful memory and comfort food again.

Nice t-shirt!
I spent 25 yrs, 2 months and 19 days in the USAF.
Was a medic at one point, that's why the dull knife concerns me.
You know, some churros or fruit empanadas would go good with the beans! Just sayin'.

I bet this smelled heavenly as you mixed those vegis into that bacon pan, especially with the smell of wood smoke on a chilly day. You have inspired me to finally try to make my own homemade flour tortillas. Thank you Mama.

Hi your homemade beans and the rest of your lunch looks so delicious! Homemade tortillas are the best because you know what in them! Just healthier and cost efficient.

Pleeease sharpen that knife!
Don't want to have to make a trip to the ER while the beans are cooking!
Beans and tortillas or beans and biscuits, both are my favorites!

Looks amazing. Did you know you can send your knife to Cutco and they will sharpen it for free. They have a form on their site. I send mine in annually.

So simple yet delicious. I love the simplicity of this video. Throw a sausage in a tortilla and enjoy! Who could ask for anything more?
