I have never in my long life have I ever heard of them being called taquitos until this video. They are flautas because they are named for flutes due to the shape, so duh. Yes, they are so easy to make and filled with whatever you wish. Yes, also to corn tortillas. Haven't made them for years so that's what is going to be for dinner tomorrow.

I put mine in the microwave for like 15 seconds and they stay soft enough to roll. If I do it longer the tortillas get damp and harden while I’m working. So if you do them in the microwave don’t leave them long enough to get slightly sticky. If you do you’ve left them too long. Also I call them flautas. They’re my man’s favorite.

Flauta actually means flute in Spanish so it's obvious what the tortilla shape looks like. Then again taquito means small taco, so take your pick. I was raised by saying taquitos. Taquitios con guacamole is my NUMBER ONE all time favorite to eat!

Flautas. Taquitos are what you get at whataburger at 3am. And always, always corn tortillas. Chicken, maybe shredded beef or barbacoa. Potato is different, but actually sounds really good. Dip them in salsa verde, or maybe some guac, delicious.

Here in Arizona, although there are exceptions, it's taquito's/rolled tacos using corn tortillas and flautas using flour tortillas.
Perhaps it's the Northern Sonoran/Rancho style of cooking in Northern Mexico that is so prevalent here.

Hi A! You sure do make some delicious recipes for us. I'm going to make these for sure. They look super yummy. Thanks. I never made these so. I don't know what to call them. I will call them what you do. Great Video.

we always made flautas(flour) at home. Corn taquito's or rolled tacos were the only way you could get them at restaurants/taco trucks. I'm not hispanic, I don't know the etymology. Thats just how we said it.

I’m in San Diego, very close to the Tijuana MX border. Grew up calling the ones made with corn tortillas rolled tacos or taquitos. When flour tortillas are used we call them flautas.

I love taquitos/flautas. I’ve never made potato ones, but I’m definitely going to now. I usually make chicken ones with canned diced green chiles and jack cheese.

I love your way of dealing with all the know-it-alls who think their way is the only right way, and everyone needs to hear it, Argue among yourselves. Love ya, bye!

I was born in Mexico and flautas are always made with corn tortillas. Never with flour tortillas. Maybe in the northern states in Mexico some use flour tortillas

Fautas or taquitos are delicious whatever name you use. Comfort food for me. I prefer them made with corn tortillas, but I won't turn down flour either.

Yummy I will try this! Where did you get all your wooden utensils I live near SA. Do you know a Korean grocery store to get the soup spice mix

I always thought where you came from also determined what you called them. You know Hispanics from the Southwest & Hispanics from the west coast!

I've never seen flauta made with flour tortillas. I live in south Texas and every restaurant I've eaten them at make them with corn tortillas.

There's no right way or name I call them taquitos, I some where where they use a big corn tortilla after it's rolled it resembles flute

Is it true that when you have onion powder or garlic powder, keep them from clumping up you should put it in the refrigerator Thanks.

I found out my local Mexican market specifically makes flauta tortillas. Thinner so they crisp up better. They make great chips also.
reply

Definitely flautas and I didn’t grow up with that either. I always had corn tortilla flautas a Tex Mex thing from Houston too
reply
