the pea at 8: 23 doesn't look very happy! just a note on cottage pie vs shepherds' pie - I was always told that shepherds' pie is only ever lamb (hence shepherd) and potato - no additional veggies or cheese; whereas cottage pie took everything an average cottage might have had in it's larder/pantry and in the fields back in the 1600s or 1700s and could be beef or lamb (whch is exactly what you've done here) so a thumbs up from me and a subscription from England also, sometimes it can turn out too oily - one of my ex-s used to actually boil the mince instead of frying it, so she could then easily discard the excess fat, keeping the liquid to use as the stock. handy as an option

i made this last night and. oh my gosh. It's the best ever. And I'm sure it's due to the recipe, instead of the cook lol. Seriously, this will now be my go-to for cottage pie recipe. It's better than Cheesecake Factory. It's filling, tasty, and leaves me with a full contented belly.

I have made this recipe on 4 occasions now, and it has been delicious every time! My only change was to add a can of drained corn at my husband's request. It's great with or without the corn, so yummy! Thanks for sharing.

Looks delicious, Mama! Thanks for sharing. I will try this recipe. Sadly, I am the only one in my house who likes peas. Do you think corn or green beans would go well in it? Or heck, maybe both? :)

If you put canned tomato paste in a baggie. Flatten it out and divide it in 3 parts. It will be ready when you need it. My paste in tube goes bad in fridge b4 I use it all.
