You gave a reference to an alternative healthy recipe. Are you saying your version is NOT HEALTHY? It looks healthy to me! So what about it is NOT healthy? Trying to poison us? (Note: calling one version healthy - automatically brands other versions (yours) unhealthy - not exactly what you intended, I'd bet. And I'd call it wrong headed too)

a few minutes in the final cooking I believe is a bit too long, over cook the vege. much better if you not add corn statch with the sauce mix, and add corn starch at the end to thicken the gravy. That is prepare the sauce mix and corn starch separately. add in a tabe spoon of brandy amd give it good stir. The whole thing taste devine.

When I need to cook anything above a medium heat level I opt for steel or cast iron---never non stick pans. I don't like overheating that stew of toxic chemicals used in the manufacturing process. I also cook meat in batches to avoid steaming and toughening it----which I learned the hard way.

Overall this is a good recipe but you ruined it with two ingredients: brown sugar and red onion. I love red onion but not in Chinese food - plus they were barely cooked. Also not enough broccoli.

Nice simple recipe. Definitely used the wrong pan for this though. If you don't have a wok, a high sided pan would be a better choice. I would surly break those onions down as well.

For me, I would use half the amount of meat and twice the amount of broccoli. Not a vegetarian, just prefer more veggies. Also I would add some celery to the dish while cooking.

No big deal but, putting the broccoli into the ice water only stops the cooking, it doesn't shock it, I believe that happens to humans not vegetables.
