Some of you have asked for a recipe video explaining how I make gravy for Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday dinners. Well here are two ways to make it. The one I use the most is called cheater gravy. It is so easy and convenient to make! Ingredients 10 packets of turkey gravy (I used 6 turkey and 4 brown gravy packets) 10 cups (2. 36 L) cold water 5 oz chopped cooked chicken (or turkey) 2 large boiled eggs (chopped) half of a cooked onion (finely chopped) 2 cooked celery sticks (finely chopped)

Angelica, have you ever tried smoking, grilling or roasting your chicken bones or turkey neck to make a broth/stock? The flavor and richness is amazing. I make it several weeks in advance and freeze it. You can even use the rotisserie chicken carcasses. Save up 2 or 3 in the freezer, roast them with their aromatics, pop them in a dutch oven with water and let them go. Just the 5 of us the last 4 or 5 years, so we've been keeping it as simple as possible. Last year was tamales, this year is lasagna.

Looks delicious! My mom always made her gravy from scratch, but I was never really a good gravy maker, so I kind of did what you did. Mixed some of the broth with the gravy packets, and it's good. Not going to be doing it this year. I'll be alone on Thanksgiving so I'm not going through all that.

I do two packets of gravy mix one cup of cold water and one cup of room temperature turkey drippings. I used to make it more like your second recipe, but it's just three of us for Thanksgiving. I save it for Christmas now because that's when everyone comes lol.

For those who didn't know dry gravy mixes have corn starch in them so it is best to mix in cold h2o. She did this perfectly. The heat thickens the gravy nicely. I have never thought to mix brown gravy w/turkey gravy. Interesting combination.

My secret to my gravy is one packet of turkey gravy mix, one packet of chicken gravy mix, one cup turkey/chick stock and one cup of milk. The stock I use is semi homemade. I use a Knorr vegetable bouillon cube and the neck and innerds.

I have been making the semi homemade gravy at Thanksgiving for years! It is yummy and really helps with so many other things going on in the kitchen at the same time.

As far as semi homage gravy goes, I think the jarred turkey gravy is better. Add the giblets from the turkey and some drippings and it s pretty legit.

YES! If you do NOT want any lumps,
ALWAYS mix gravy packets, and/or corn starch with COLD water, or COLD milk.
