Ranong ( ) - Welcome to Ranong, a very pleasant city in Southern Thailand. A couple interesting things about Ranong, which is both a city and province in Thailand, is that it s the least populated province in Thailand, and it s located on the Kra Isthmus, the narrowest part of the Malay peninsula. It s also a cool place to visit with some fantastic people and delicious Thai street food. We started at the market for breakfast, walking around the friendly market and eating some street food snacks including a freshly made egg roti (, sticky rice shrimp (, and grilled sticky rice (. Market was great. Traditional Ice Cream ( ) - This is one of the most classic Thai ice cream shops that specializes in hardened raw egg ice cream ( ) - 40 THB Take Off Your Shoes Restaurant ( ) - Next up on this Ranong Thai food tour we went to a legendary restaurant literally called Take Off Your Shoes. Funny enough, you don t need to take off your shoes to eat here but it must have a history! Shrimp stink beans Fern salad Sour curry, taro stems Soft shell crab Total price - 850 THB ( 26. 25) Som Chok Restaurant ( ) - Finally, to end this meal, we drove a little outside of town to a countryside Thai restaurant known for curries and especially for stink beans. We had a little stink bean overdose, and it was wondrous! Stink beans Chicken turmeric Pork ribs curry Fried pork Total price - 800 THB (24. 69 USD) That completes this Thai street food tour of Ranong, Thailand. It s a pleasant town, very friendly, easy to go around, charming, and you ll find some delicious and unique street food

Mark are most southern food in general & ones you tested halal? other than pork which I know alot eat, do thais use lard often? I went to krabi, a recomended restaurant by our driver was good, one we chose ourselves was awful ruined the whole trip; so I don't trust my judgement anymore lol. I really want to go to ones youve been too. And is it safe for tourist to rent a car or bike in thailand?

I love your Mark videos, but I want to raise my voice of protest since we know that thousands of monkeys are mistreated in Thailand being tied to coconut palms so that the monkeys throw 1000 coconuts a day and that is inhuman, we already have to be aware and to be humans protecting the species that are the balance of the planet, enough of so much mistreatment like this the animals

When I was in Abu Dhabi in the 1980's the Indian market vendors (from Kerala I think) used to make the most delicious egg roti. They used flat Arabic bread called kubbis and added chopped green chillies to the egg. I would have two every day as a mid morning snack. Yum Yum!

Fern leaves! the spores from fern are dangerous but that's the spores, partner and I many years ago picked a shaggy parasol mushroom, took it home, fried it and had it in crusty bread, there's no mistaking this mushroom but we kept our eye on each other, I'm in UK.

Those southern Thai food looks extremely delicious! Especially the stinkie bean with prawn! Reminds me of sambal petai udang. hmmm yummy.
I suppose food within the Malay peninsular has a pinch of sweetness. Noticed kelantanese food is abit on the sweeter side too.
