Yong tau foo is a popular Chinese Singaporean dish of mixed tofu and fish cakes, and in this video I tried it from a place called Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo. Similar to Chinatown Complex Food Centre in Singapore is Peoples Park Food Centre, located just across the street in Singapores Chinatown. The food court hawker center is also home to a huge selection of different foods, and lots to choose from. But among the selection is one noticeable stall called Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo, that is famous for serving an old fashioned style of yong tau foo. As soon as they open, they have an immediate long line of loyal customers who are waiting in line for their afternoon bowl. I joined the line, and it didnt take long to get my bowl of Singapore style yong tau foo, the line moves quickly because there are no options for what to order, you just have a choice of how many bowls you want to order. I just got a single bowl and after making my order, we went to go sit down and they delivered our bowl to us. Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo serves a famous Singapore Chinese dish called yong tau foo, which is a dish made up of different pieces of tofu and fish cake or fish meatballs. Sometimes it can be dry and served with noodles on the side, but this one was served in a light clear soup. There were a mixed variety of handmade and fresh tasting tofu and meatballs in the soup. It was good, but a bit plain, but everything taste quite good quality. Overall, I thought the bowl of yong tau foo made a good afternoon snack in Singapore. Yong Xiang Xing Tou Foo Address: 32 New Market Rd, 01-1084 Peoples Park Food Centre Open hours: Around 1 pm 5 pm or so (closed on Monday) Prices: 4 per bowl How to get there: The stall is located right in the middle of Peoples Park Food Centre right off Chinatown MRT

It seems like so far, all you've been trying is Chinese food with the exception of the fish head curry. I would suggest you try Malay & Indian food. Bugis/Haji Lane has a line of restaurants selling Indian food, notably a popular place called Zam Zam. Azim's restaurant at Noris Road (in Little India - near Mustaffa centre, which you should also check out because of the food & mall there. they sell freshly made chapatti to go with their other dishes like curry, kheema and vegetables. inexpensive and utterly mindblowing. Around that area too, is a restaurant called Haja Maimunah which sells an assortment of dishes to pick over rice (Malay food) and they're always sold out by lunch time. it's called Nasi Padang. There's a Malay stall in bedok centre called Inspirasi which sells 3 things on their menu - mee soto (most popular, mee rebus, and chicken porridge. It's really cheap and the best that I've had, ever. the popular places to go where it's 24 hours would be simpang bedok, Mustafa, Al-Azhar, Saffron, etc. Don't bother trying Lau Pa Sat because it's really overrated. Not 24 hours but really great places - Haig Road, East Coast Park Food Village, Changi Village, Newton.

Mark, some of the good food are out of town area. east side, you may try bedok corner, simpang bedok, east coast changi village. North, harbour front areaWest, west coast market, nasi lemak boon lay power, and moreNorth, im staying in north, i rather go jb to get awesome food. you shld visit jb instead, cheap and more variety. I have to agree you are reviewing most of the chinese food which i cant deny im a fan of chinese food but more to their fried food. for malay and indian food theres alot more to nasi lemak and fish head curry. Nasi ambeng, nasi padang, nasi rawan, nasi ayam penyek, list goes on for malay dishes and indian food you should try al azhar at bukit timah area. This is just my suggestion, but If you guys have better suggestion do comment: )

I've read many people commenting on Mark not having his foodgasm head-tilt on most of the Singapore videos. I agree but it is good to see his honest opinion and reaction. And I don't think he is gonna show food that he didn't like or hate (only a couple I've seen so far, so I wonder how many dishes that he didn't like was made but wasn't uploaded (anywhere in the world. I'm from Singapore, to be fair and honest, most of the video I've seen on the Singapore videos are the popular ones (some over-rated) which aren't necessary tasty for some. Thanks for coming to Singapore, Mark and Ying. I'm looking forward to more of your Singapore food videos. :)

I actually like that Yong tau fu. Might be a bit underwhelming if you like strong tastes but it doesn't taste completely plain and the soup has a sweet, clean taste. They make all of it by hand as well. It's not that easy to find tasty, yet 'clean' tasting and cheap food that doesn't contain like a ton of msg. Anyway if you're up for good flavours. You should try OYSTER OMELETTES, satay beehoon and prawn noodles Favourite stuff to eat. I think you can just do a quick google for them to find the good ones.

Welcome to Singapore Mark & Ying So happy you guys are here and hope yall get your fix of comforting everyday Singapore food, and also a fair share of some exhilarating exotic flavours we have to offer Oh yes and it's true, don't heed the recommendations on websites (usually these places were once good, but their standards dropped after the fame, listen to the people for their everyday Singaporean preferences hehehe: ) Really hope you enjoy your time here, cheers, or also known to us as YAMSENG

this hawker the most popular is indeed this stall yong tau fu, but it isnt the only nice food there, if you google People's Park Food Centre, 1) Lek Kee Teochew Braised Duck Rice - very nice and braised pig skin is very good2) Toh Kee Roast Duck also popular and their daily freshly made pork bao is very good too. 3) Loh Mei which is next to Lek Kee 4) Mala Hot pot is super good5) Poi Kee another yong tau fu also good they even have noodleshope u come by again Mark and try these food.

Recommending Yong Tau Foo soup to him is definitely a waste of time. He stays in Thailand probably and wif palates that goes for heavy flavour, most food in SG would be too bland for him except those in Little India. Howto appreciate YTF when he doesn't know what he's eating. I bet many locals can't tell the differences btwn real n imitation fish balls. I believe that people queue apparently knew what theyre getting is either authentic fish stuffing or fresh ingredients.

I don't think there's much to rave about Singapore food. It's pretty clean and simple with most Chinese cuisine. Hence why I'll go for Indian food if I'm craving for some punch. Otherwise, I'll unleash my crave when I'm travelling to Malaysia on a bi-weekly basis. You get the same food and more, with unmatched level of punch and flavour with most cuisine types. That's my take anyways. Thank you Mark and Ying, always a pleasure to watch your food travel experience. Cheers

From the look of that Yong Tau Foo. its quite underwhelming for choice. Probably has good tasting bits there and there. But isn't attractive as the regular self choose one. The Ice Kacang is typical ones. Red and green sugar syrup. That black jelly is herbal Jelly aka Cincau. There should be some Sago beads inside as well. The last one you had should be the better one with sweet corn. But more authentic ones would have red beans inside.

No doubt Singaporean cuisines are good but i don't think Mark is loving it. Haven't seem him very impressed and orgasming to their food in this Singapore series. But all in all, its an awesome video Mark. You opened the world to us who doesn't have the opportunity to travel the world. God bless you and Ying Stay safe: ) looking forward to your upcoming food vlogs
