Bnh Tm B is a Vietnamese noodles dish with coconut cream. Read all the details here: When I asked where to eat in Saigon, one of the suggestions I got was a restaurant called Bnh Tm B ng Thp (Thank you Yuyu Yuyu. So after taking a day trip to walk around and explore Cho Lon, Saigons Chinatown, we werent too far away from the restaurant and decided to stop by for a mid afternoon meal. Chinatown vlog: When I first entered the restaurant, I literally had no clue was bnh tm b, all I really knew was that it was a Vietnamese noodles dish - thats all. But to me thats part of the joy of traveling and eating, what I love to do so much - discovering and trying foods that youre never tried before. As it turns out, banh tam bi is a dish of thick tapioca noodles, which almost look like Japanese udon noodles to me, dressed with herbs and thin strands of pork, then doused in a thick sweet coconut cream sauce. So anyway, we entered Bnh Tm B ng Thp, and I ordered just a normal bowl of their bnh tm b. She first added a handful of herbs to the bottom of the plate, a combination of mostly Vietnamese coriander, and also some thinly sliced cucumbers. Then came a handful of the thick tapioca noodles, followed by a couple of different types of pork, both pork meat, and pork skin. Finally for the seasonings and dressing, she added a ladle of thick coconut cream gravy to the top, and then added a scoop of Vietnamese pickled and finally a topping of green onions. I was pretty excited to dig into my plate of bnh tm b, which looked beautiful. There was a type of sweet fish sauce which came on the side, and also there was a bowl of crushed red chili, which I cant live without. But before garnishing it, I decided to try it on its own. The first flavor that stood out to me was the strong coconut flavor - if you love coconut, youre going to love bnh tm b. It was rich and creamy, and the noodles were extremely soft and slippery. Along with the fresh coconut, what I liked most about the dish was the fresh Vietnamese coriander and crisp cucumbers. However, the sauce was a little on the sweet side for me, so it wasnt my favorite dish, but I still enjoyed it, and it was great to try for the first time. Youll find bnh tm b all over Saigon, at small restaurant and at street food stalls, but here are the details for the restaurant we ate at. Thank you again for the recommendation Bnh Tm B ng Thp Address: 352 Nguyn Tri, Quarter 5, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Phone number: 0917 151 369 Open hours: 9 am - 11 pm daily

'Nother great video, Mark. Quick question, we all know how much you love food but is there anything in the world that you dislike? I really can't imagine you not enjoying something, even nasty bits like tendon, intestines or tripe would be a surprise (to me at least) if you mentioned that you don't enjoy eating them.

mmm omg looks so good, my mom also makes a dish with the coconut sauce, but the best way to balance the sweetness of the coconut is to add more of the fish sauce Probably the best mix is equal parts of each but I prefer more coconut because it gives it a more creamy texture: )

I grew up in Dong Thap and as a child, would wake up at 6AM every morning to eat a bowl of Banh Tam Bi at the market before walking to school. This video brings back many happy childhood memories in Vietnam. Thanks for sharing Mark

Seriously, stop dumping ridiculous amount of chili onto everything you eat. If your palate is that unsophisticated that you can't appreciate any food unless it's super spicy, then you lose all credibility as a a food blogger.

Mark, can you recommend any vegetarian dishes from Vietnam or Thailand? If so, I might seek them out in Atlanta's Asian restaurants. You do a good job describing what's on your plate. Thanks for all your videos

hi mark, im with you in the fact about really sweet, but if its hot yummy. what is that about the hot sauce on your shirts, is that a brand your reping? great vid, really loved this whole Vietnam series: )

lol cracks me up every time i see u add more chilli but it was super sweet cause of the coconut milk. you are meant to balance this out with more of the luc nam sauce or the fish sauce as you put it

Just curious, did any of your western friends ever commented on how you eat chillies? Lol. I know some western people can't stand spicy food. Your stomach is more asian than western, I guess: )
