This was incredible traditional Cretan food experience Watch all my Greek Food videos here Subscribe The top reason I wanted to visit Crete, the biggest island of Greece, was to experience the food. Cretan food is known for its incredible Mediterranean based food diet. Even though its an island surrounded by the sea, Crete is such a huge island that its actually more well known for lamb and meat rather than seafood. One day while my wife and I were in Chania, Crete, we drove over to a countryside restaurant in the mountains called (Im not sure of the English name. Immediately as we arrived, and met the incredibly passionate owner, and watched him cooking traditional Crete food in clay pots over fire, I knew it was going to be an incredible food experience. Before eating, I took a quick walk around the farm, to see all the produce and animals they had on their property. The owner was quick to mention to met that it wasnt just a restaurant, but a farm. Everything he cooked was from his farm on his land - the meat, the vegetables, the fruit, the seasonings, even the wine. Everything was local and seasonal. After walking around, I just asked the owner to serve me a few of his favorite dishes of the day. We enjoyed some incredible house wine, bread, and then mountain goat. Everything was purely delicious, seasoned with wine and rosemary, and full of natural Mediterranean heb flavors. We were also served a few more Cretan dishes, all of which were stunningly good. My only complaint was that we didnt plan to stay long enough. We had to eat, and then head back to Chania town because I had something else planned that day as well. Its the type of restaurant you could go and hang out for the entire day. - An amazing authentic Crete food restaurant where everything is cooked in the traditional way by pure love

Am I the only one who was distracted by the family in the background? At first I thought it was just a normal family with the mother and son sitting across from the Father and sister, but then I noticed the father was putting his hand around the girl in a way more like it his wife/girlfriend than a daughter. I'm wondering if it was an actual family at all but instead just two couples having dinner. This completely irrelevant info is going to bother me forever LOL, I can't understand why let stuff like this bother me But it happens all the time, instead of watching a video and actually paying attention to it, I always seem to get bothered by something happening in the background and trying to figure out whats happening or creating stories or reasons behind it all. Traditional Dishes using recipes that have been passed down generation-by-generation, using only the freshest ingredients possible, which are grown and raised on site, made by truly a passionate and skilled chef who loves what he is doing, all eaten in beautiful, one-a-kind picturesque setting surrounded by nature. What else could you possibly ask for, or need? This is truly the pinnacle of the dining and cooking experience I've always wanted to go to Greece and after seeing this, Greece and Crete are definitely going in the top 5 places I want to visit This was an amazing video and truly awesome experience Thank you for taking us along for the ride

I've just eaten lunch here today. It's extraordinary and worth the challenge of finding it up in the mountains. Goat, lamb, the very best salad I have ever had, lots of great vegetarian dishes and a truly rustic and authentic setting. Go, go, go. Head for Drakona. The restaurant is outside the village about 1K and is written Dounias or Ntounias. Not many signs but keep going until you see it. Worth every kilometre

Just went to the restaurant Dounias today, 60 Euros from the port and back and our cab drivers were great but they did get lost coming here lol The food and service were amazing the plates just kept on coming 49 Euros for 5 people. If you come to Chania you have to try this place.

I would give my soul to live in a farm like that and have that type of lifestyle, in a country, eating off of the land and just enjoying what God gave us. It's great to see that there are good people in this world still. God bless Adam and the owner of that Cretan farm.

I live in the NW Arizona desert, have goats, chickens, and over 250 fruit trees and a garden; this is inspiring for my FARM (Genesis Ranch) I know people would LOVE to eat at my place, too. I know just what this food smells and taste like. I eat like this ALL THE TIME

Out of all your shows this is the BEST for me. I love natural out side and country or farm environment. I like the way the food is prepared and specially I love Wild Mountain Goats. I enjoyed GUNS OF NAVRONE MOVIE I hope one day I get to visit Crete and this RESTAURANT.

I went to Creta for vacation more than 10times, last October being the latest. One of the best food experience if you like Mediterranean rustic style. But Cretan people are also the spice to the whole story. Amazing natural people that make you feel so welcome.

Thank you Mark for this amazing video. I think I have watched it 3 times so far LOL. I went to Chania last year, and I visited Oasis souvlaki place, I missed that video, though. I might go back to Chania this summer, so i will definitely visit this place

Hi Mark, I have watch out of your videos. This is my best episode. I am from Small village Uttaranchal India, there way of cooking is similar with our tradition. Even the ecology is similar with our locality. Thanks for sharing this video.
