At Renee's Kitchenette, three generations cook Filipino specialties to honor their family's legacy. The home-style restaurant is named after Renee, the matriarch who has been working at her restaurant for over thirty years. Taking inspiration for their native Pampanga in the Philipines, Renee now gets help from her sons, daughter, and granddaughter running the restaurant. The restaurant is known for kare kare, and a variety of grilled meats like longanisa, atchara as well as chicken, pork belly, and barbecued pork. I still maintain that there's an impressive lack of dedicated, family-run, home style Filipino restaurants like this, both where I am and in general. It seems to be more common to go to 50/50 sketchy carinderia-style joints, or any one of the popular fast food chains like Goldilocks, Chow King, etc. I'm just wondering why this style of restaurant never caught on abroad, when it worked brilliantly for other Asian cuisines. Perhaps the default argument being, I can cook this better at home and for cheaper, which can be true. But that doesn't help expose the everyday public to genuine homestyle Filipino cooking.

Aling Renee's husband seem like such a loving and dedicated man. Him telling Renee will be famous (which she did, and the way the family affectionally talk about him him and wife picture holding together just breams with so much love that I can't! Hope this love finds me too.
Would have been so nice if he was still around us to see how he'd cook these iconic dishes and i'd imagine he'd be prasing his wife alot if he was in this interview ugh. RIP Manong Ernesto. Im sure you're proud of your kids and grandchild continuing such a vital part of the Filipino community in New York!

Very touching video. I patronize your store Saturday morning it was my first time. I ordered Adobo chicken, BBQ Chicken, Pork, Lumpiang Shanghai & Renee’s famous Sausage with garlic rice & the different condiments on the side. The gentleman who put my order together is very professional & accommodating. Your food is a 20 plus out of ten everything was delicious very tasty & satisfying. I will be coming back for more of your amazing food.

Immigrants doing what immigrants do. Start businesses at a higher rate than natural citizens, work longer hours, look out after their families even in old age, and the list goes on.

It’s the best! Their dishes are consistently amazing all these years. We keep coming back not only because of the Filipino ambience but for the quality of the food.

to know if a pinoy is a good cook, make her/him cook pansit, you will know if she is actually good at cooking if she/he nails it, because its hard to get it right

It’s hilarious how NYC gets a couple Filipino restaurants on one street and brands it LiTtLe mAnIlA that is just a normal street in the Bay Area.
