Chef's Night Out in Brooklyn with INSA

Sohui Kim, chef and co-owner of Korean BBQ restaurant INSA in Gowanus, Brooklyn, takes us to all ends of New York-from Flushing to Red Hook-for a night out that is as delicious as it is fun. The night starts at Myung San with fermented blue crabs, because of course it does. Next, Sohui and friends head to Sik Gaek for watermelon soju, BBQ, and abalone. They then head to Fort Defiance for some tiki cocktails before going back to INSA for late night debauchery, complete with INSA fried chicken, rice cakes, and seafood corndogs

Watched this video before I moved to Brooklyn and I've always wanted to go. I finally went recently and I'm telling y'all. I was so disappointed. The server says that 3 strips of pork belly serves 2-3 people. It barely feeds one. -- going to K Town in Manhattan is actually around the same price and gives WAY MORE food. Makes me sad that these owners are offering this gentrified version of authentic K-bbq.

Sorry the -dancing abalone- is not good. Imagine being burned to death. Not worth it for me. I'd never order that. If you are going to eat an animal at least make the animal's death quick. No I'm not a vegan or anything like that. Just writhing in intense pain doesn't appeal to me.

You can still have fun without being on something. These people are pretty much showing you that -. You can't be mad at this -boring- episode because this how these people have fun. If you have to be high or drunk to have a great night, that sad.

There's a Korean-fusion restaurant and killer bar that's truly a hidden gem, not only for its food -- but for the abundance of very hard-to-find IPAs in all 60 of them. It's called Small City Tap House, Sandusky Ohio (I know. It can't be beat!

Raw crab is not better than cooked crab. It's so overpowering how sweet an salty those marinaded crabs are in general. I dont think I could ever like them. I've tried them four different times in different places in Korea.

If there were a White Coin (North Korean flag, the Flushing joint's restaurateur would be automatically subject to promissory execution and as well an immediate foreclosure of the joint.

Glad that even the non-korean guests enjoyed the food! The soy fermented crab and abalone could be difficult, but I'm grateful for their positive reactions toward the food.

This is the type of thing that makes me miss being in the industry. We used to do this twice a month and it was always a great time with friends and staff.
