You-ve probably read, watched, or heard something controversial about the Guantanamo Bay detention camp since it started housing suspected terrorists in 2002. This past year, most media has centered around hunger strikes-which is one of the most well-known ways that prisoners protest their indefinite detainment-and the subsequent force-feeding they endure. Last year, there were over 100 detainees on hunger strike. But what about the detainees that are eating? Fortunately for them, there's Sam, the cheery middle-aged Korean chef that takes pride in each meal she whips up. Sam makes chicken eight different ways, prepares both Halal and Kosher meals, and bakes an impressive assortment of cookies. And every ingredient used in her kitchen comes from - you guessed it - America. Our host Gianna Toboni spent a few days last March on a riveting tour of Gitmo, from the cellblock to the prison library to the local mini golf course and the fascinating commissary. We don't know what was more surprising-the huge python that we encountered, or the interesting politics of the camp's kitchen

Let see the truth about Guantanamo prisoner's food: -Events like mealtimes in a prison setting are usually looked forward to because it breaks the monotony and gives one something to do for a short period, in addition to satisfying hunger. But food itself had become a form of punishment. Meals such as green, powdered scrambled eggs would be served along with oranges so extremely freezer burnt that no moisture was left. Hard-boiled eggs were first cooked and de-shelled on the US mainland, deep-frozen and reheated months later at Guantanamo, leaving the whites the consistency of leather. All hot meals were cooked in thick oil, and if they were served cold the entire meal solidified into a single gooey conglomerate. In Camp Six, the soldiers used to put our hot meals in front of a large air-conditioner duct for a couple of hours before serving, which made it practically inedible. Not even the simplest pleasure was allowed to relieve us from the constant hardship, but only used to exacerbate. Even today, if I could, I would just take a nutrition pill and be done with it. - (David Hicks, Guantanamo_ My journey)

To be real right now; even though the person who runs the food is delightful it feels patronizing to say she has a 'blissful ignorance. ' Just because she has an accent and enjoys her job. That doesn't mean you would have the right to patronize her intelligence. She most likely knows better than anyone the hunger strikes, dosent mean she's 'ignorant' just because she's displaying to you how shes meant to do her job. Not everyone has the advantage of a politically 'woke' job. Sometimes you take what you can get and do your best, and you don't have the right to take an elitist position of basically calling her a delightful moron in your doco.

Do you know why you can-t film their faces? --Because terrorist groups will find where that soldier lives and kill him and his family. --Those piece of shit prisoners at Guantanamo are there for a reason. They aren-t random people picked up off of the street. They have legitimate ties to terrorism. --And we cook them food that meets their religious standards! --How Do you think Americans get treated if imprisoned in an Arab country?

jizzz. the prisoners are having a hell of a lifetime. -they are eating 5star foods. -hate me or call me anything but prisoners are suppose to be living a poor miserable lives. -how can they treat PEDOPHILES, murderers, rapist, etc etc etc like VIPs? -I bet at least 80% prisoners here have destroyed other peoples life, family and friends and whatever. -yet they are treated like VIPs. that's no justice.

If you want to put this video into perspective go watch clips of people jumping from the twin towers to keep from burning to death. These animals have it very good. You can believed they have it far better than any ISIS or Taliban detainees ever did. I believe it's right that we treat these animals with respect. This is America. We are the standard bearer. Punishment does not mean you delete humanity.

I really believe places like this should exist I-m not one that believes much of what the government says or media and I believe that-s one of the reasons it should exist for those so evil but so rich normal prisons can-t hold them not fake terrorists we need this shit for people like Epstein and so many more

When people in jail eat much better than you, that's when you know you are not living with your parents anymore and you probably have a shitty job. When I was 18 I used to eat at my job while hiding from my bosses and it wasn't even good food. If someone had showed me this video by the time I'd still be in that prison

Who cares what they eat, alot of them have commited unspeakable crimes. Same goes for murderers and child molesters. -I would give them the basics and that's it. -They shouldn't be given the options of halal or kosher food. -Petty criminals are treated worse than the ones who have really done something.

The prisoner's there are in for a reason, keep that in mind! They get treated better than homeless American's on the street. Low income family's in the state's don't feed their kids that well, unable to. So you need to really understand the prisoner's are there for VALID reason's. Common sense please

She-s sitting here talking about this little old lunch lady how she-s -a cute little ignorant soul- but the lunch lady is probably thinking the same thing about her -cute little American girls that want dress like boys and be journalists-. The potential irony is really enjoyable
