As a native Chicagoan, I wholeheartedly endorse all the places mentioned here. Uno's, Lou Malnati's, Burt's Place, and Vito and Nick's are definitely top of the line. Here's my breakdown of the best deep dish locations though, for anyone that cares. ---First of all, did you all notice the one huge place for deep dish not mentioned? Giordano's. 100% NOT even close to being the best deep dish in Chicago, but way too many tourists goes there. Don't even get me started on any satellite location. Uno's is really good, but even the original one is starting to get a little overwhelmed with all the attention. The ingredients are really good, but the aesthetics of it are not. Their pizzas look lazily made, but they taste good nonetheless. Lou Malnati's is by and far the best big- deep dish pizza chain in Chicago, and no matter which location you go to, you will get a very good pizza. Their's is more on the thin side of deep dish tho. However, my favorite place for deep dish is a place not mentioned anywhere, and a place you won't see any press on. Probably because there's only 2 locations I know of in the SW suburbs of Chicago, and isn't considered a strictly deep dish place. It's a standard italian restaurant that also makes deep dish. It's Vita Bella, and their deep dish is super thick (in every sense, and uses very chunky tomatoes on top. Their crust dwarfs Lou Malnati's, but isn't overdone obviously. Whenever I go back home, I always get Vita Bella deep dish. Haven't had Pequod's/Burt's Place, but I've heard very good things.

As a New Yorker who's never been to Chicago, I'm partial to our pizza, and the deep dish we're served here doesn't cut it - as far as I know, ours is the best. That said, I'm intrigued and interested in checking out the real deep dish and the thin crust in Chicago. There's a lot of love in what they do in Chicago, and I'd love to sample it. and I've heard good things about Detroit too. I'll have to sample the midwest's best at some point, because it looks a lot different than Italian and NY pizza. and it's nice to see variety and creativity.

I-m sorry but everyone needs to drive to south of the city to Canton, Il, it-s about 3 hours south of the city and get Monicals pizza. It-s the super thin crust pizza they are eating in this episode but better. The best pizza in the state. I have eaten it my entire life and nothing I have tried in the Chicago area comes close to it in the 2 years I have lived here. It-s an Illinois chain but the location in canton is family owned and follows its own rules. Far and away the best pizza in the state.

I love the city of Chicago, I'm from NY so I don't think you will top NY thin crust for me but Chicago deep dish is amazing. I didn't feel like I was eating pizza while eating it. Pizzeria Due (Craft version of Pizzeria Uno) was the best for me, my brother's friend help start up it up. He had me get this pie, jalapeno pepperoni and anchovies holy crap it was so good. However, and I got this from the locals, Chicago is a thin crust town as well

One day, I want to open a small pizza place. --Slices, not too many sweet pastries just small bites or even chocolate bars, ginger beer and other smooth drinks. Freshly made every day, I want to make a name for myself in a small neighborhood where the customers come in for delicious food and a friendly, welcoming place. Maybe 6 tables inside, 2 outside. Having some regular people coming around, telling their opinion of our pizza. --My dream.

Of all the people that could have kicked the bucket in this show, Burt Katz would be one of the last ones I would have guessed. The man looked healthy and in good spirits, with some of the others I was seeing a lot of heavy breathing while doing basic things and my heart attack radar was going off. Great pizza series here, I share this passion!
