How-To: Make Vegan Curry with Alex Olson

Pro skater Alex Olson went vegetarian after an unfortunate incident with a lizard at the age of thirteen, and now he's in the MUNCHIES Test Kitchen to show us how to make a vegan Indian curry. This coconut milk-based curry is spicy, delicious, and filling, even without meat

wrong - brown up the potatoes and onion, then add the spices on low until they are cooked out and toasted, then add the tomato and cook down the 'gravy' - then hit it with the coconut milk. using curry powder is wrong too, have whole fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, cardamom pods, coriander seeds, etc. to do this right. It is also as shown here a thai yellow potato curry but randomly made with indian spices, thai curry needs lemongrass, beautiful thai basil etc to make it right. i refuse to let this guy make vegans and americans look like we all cook this badly

lol its funny how people attach a tag like 'vegan' to a normal everyday curry in my place. back home in India, my dad used to make these kind of curries at least 2 times a week. and we are not vegan. its all about balancing the diet. after moving to NA I kinda understand why people want to go vegan. there is meat almost everywhere and its much more cheaper than the vegetarian option (which is actually the other way round back at home) and apparently going against the norm is what people here call being -cool- I guess!

it's weird that you aren't allowed to criticize just because it's vegan. the top comments aren't just bashing the dish for no reason. he simply can't cook which is unfortunate if you try to be the centerpiece of a video about cooking. -this is btw nothing anyone should need a tutorial for. it's one pot, no tricks and basic ingredients. if you see the end result you should be able to recreate it even if you aren't a good cook. if you ever cooked before it will probably even turn out better than this bad effort; )

Great recipe cause it-s exactly what I was looking for but omggggggg -Crawl out of your own ass for a sec and put down that -I-m too cool- front. You come off as bland and boring cause of it and when you-re trying to be funny it-s just painful to even watch. Being vegan doesn-t mean you have to loose you-re soul man. I-m vegan and i genuinely wanted to not be because of how you act in this video.

Anybody who knows anything about Indian cooking knows this is not how you make curry (or really any Indian food, if I showed this to my Indian mother and grandmother they would be horrified. Munchies stop having people who don't know how to cook cook for a cooking show!

This dude is boring and clueless about how to cook a curry. He's just clueless in general. Funny that him killing a lizard made him go vegan when it had nothing to do with consumption or food, but yet he has no problem killing a living plant.

I made the curry and the sauce tasted phenomenal! I ended up using the sauce to pour over rice with baked kobocha! I-m saving the rest of the curry with potatoes for tomorrow; )--Any other recipes you have that you want to share?

Wow first time I've ever seen a person on a cooking video taste their food and say it doesn't taste nice. Poor guy, he was super nervous, probably forgot about that rule, everything must always tastes delicious even if it's not

I can relate to the story about the lizard so much. When I was a kid a crushed a baby birds egg and I felt so guilty about it. I became a pescetarian years later. I wonder how much that had to do with it

lol i met this dude at a demo, he really is that socially awkward, we just smiled at each other and all i did was show him the 917 tee i was wearing, i was pretty starstruck. he's a huge inspiration of mine
