Dennis Ngo, executive chef of Di An Di in Greenpoint, NY, takes his staff on a night out to experience the new generation of Vietnamese restaurants in New York City, far beyond banh mi and pho. They start the night at An Choi, a vibrant street-style Vietnamese restaurant where Dennis and his restaurant crew first met. They enjoy shots of snake wine and bar snacks like fish sauce wings and taro fries. Then they visit friend and fellow chef Helen Nguyen at her new, unopened restaurant Saigon Social. The crew shares a bottle of fernet with Helen as they tour her new space and talk the future of Vietnamese restaurant dining. The group gets larger as more friends join them at Madame Vo BBQ, where they sample bo bay mon (7-course beef dinner) and whole crispy grilled catfish. The food crawl continues at Van Da, a small-plates restaurant that highlights the central region of Vietnamese cuisine with delicate, intricate dishes like Banh it (sticky rice dumplings) and pho short rib grilled cheese. To end the night, Dennis and his team return to Di An Di for a party filled with co-workers and friends, ending the night with karaoke and a late-night meal featuring broiled cheesy oysters, slow cooked pork, and more

I think by far, this Night Out video has being the most vivid representation of what the environment of a restaurant SHOULD LOOK/FEEL like. Makes me think about my business that I ought to do the same. Very very nice representation. Keep up the good work, to the Chefs here and to the individuals who bring forth this footage.

Wow one of the best episodes of Chefs Night Out. And what a great chef/owner spending the whole night giving shout outs to those who have helped him come out and paying it forward by spotlighting the newer Viet restaurants in nyc. Not to mention consistently giving the credit to his employees for his success.

That Johnny hyungh guy from the first restaurant was v familiar and I was right bc munchies did a autobiographical vid on him few years back and it-s crazy that this vid is about his mentor. Crazy to see how far he-s come and like this vid is my fav chefs night out. Warmed my heart

Need to point out some errors in the description: It's 'banh', not 'bahn'. Also, the seven course beef should be -bo bay mon-, not -bo bey mon-. Munchies/VICE, please get this right. It's especially embarrassing when you're featuring Vietnamese food and are misspelling our dishes.

I wish the Vietnamese pronunciation of the food could have been at least even somewhat more accurate. I couldn't even understand any Viet words that Dennis says at first, i. e, -Banh cooon. - with no tone. otherwise the show was entertaining to watch.

who in their right mind says -oh my god that snake looks tasty LETS MAKE A DRINK OUT OF IT - this why y-all create new viruses eating and drinking shit y-all not supposed to

Wow. I love everything about what Dennis and his team seem to be about. He is clearly a cut above and young chefs should be clamoring to be apart of what he's doing.

I-m not gonna lie. They all seem like nice enough people but they-re kind of boring. Like they maybe are friends but not really great friends that cut loose w each other.

Finally a group of chefs that i can relate too. Second generation of Vietnamese American show casing the traditional vietnamese food in a new light. Love it.
