20 years old been born and raised in philly all my life. A real Philly cheesesteak must 1st be on an a amoroso roll. Secondly cheese wiz is actually not used as often as people think its usually almost always American cheese as the standard Philly cheesesteak cheese. UNLESS u ask for anything else (some older family owned food spots will offer chz wiz first but not many anymore. The classic topics are salt, pepper, ketchup, mayo, and fried onions ( ALL PHILADELPHIANS SAY IT IN THAT ORDER. if u dont your arent a real philly native lol) and just about always the onions are diced and not rings! Oh and the meat is certainly not real steak. well very few of them use real steak most use the steak slab almost like steakums

Provalone is not easy to get in the UK, however, I managed to get a block from an Italian shop and cut off a few slices. This was provalone piccante which I found pretty strong (Or sharp as you'd say. There is also a milder option which I forget the name of. The piccante works really well I think. Would you say the provalone you used would be piccante or the milder one? I'd love to try the Cheese Whiz but I have no idea how to get it in the UK.

1 true Philadelphians dont eat Pat's or geno's, that's a tourist spot. Born and raised in philly and the 1 time I had either of place someone else bought it and I was disgusted. Could get a better cheesesteak at any corner store. 2 the rolls we use is Amaroso 3. Its wiz, provolone, or American cheese me personally I like provolone or American I hate wiz on my steak like it on fries.

Pats, wit (onions) and wiz. Youve got to go to Philadelphia and get one! But be warned. Philly is a strange place. Nothing like San Diego! I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Philly. Its a pain in the ass. But there are some really cool things there. Youd probably love Reading Terminal Market. Since youre a cook. Really, you should plan a trip.

American cheese is my favorite. Cheesesteaks came out in the 30's. Cheese Whiz wasn't invented until 1952. This is borderline heretic, but I don't care, I'm a Pittsburgh guy and Flyers suck. Rest of Philly teams are cool though. Back to topic. I make a cheese sauce with provolone and sharp provolone. Kind of the best of both worlds.

I know you have to earn ad revenue but please, pretty please, stick to cooking and banter. You cook like jamie oliver, but with more swearing, and in my opinion, are kinda better for that reason. Uk guy here, who likes food. Stick to it dude. I'm doing this tonight so here i am. Jamie's is next, if there even is one.

I would like to know exactly what knife you're using, make, model, length, tag, ID, whatever. Everyone always points me to a site with multiple choices. I was raised on German Steel so I love quality. So please help. And I don't need a free bottle of oil. Save it for the people who eat all the free samples at Sam's club.

10 seconds in, and the video was wrong. The first option is always American cheese. That's how you make a cheesesteak. Do plenty of people in/around Philly prefer provolone? Sure. But it's 3rd at best anywhere within the actual city or suburbs. And by suburbs, I mean the immediate surrounding counties.

I was in Philly recently and the thing is, they don't use just Provolone, they use SHARP Provolone which is absolutely disgusting if you aren't from there and grew up on it. Not hating on the fact people like it and enjoy it, but it's too hard to stomach(at least for me.
