How To Make A Classic Baklava With Sarah Baris ve Esitlik: Ok let me give you the historical info about Baklava. Turks are coming from Central Asia so they are related to Mongolians. Baklava is used in Mongolian language too. But most of the linguistic scientists say that its Turkic, which is originated from Central Asia. The rolling pin is called oklava in Turkish. The grains called Bakla in Turkish as well. This sweet is originated from Turkic culture. Its layered of phyllo with walnuts (walnuts and walnut tree is very important in Turkic culture, they were building houses w Walnuts tree, has melted butter and gets simple syrup on it. Greeks who lived under Ottoman empire for hundreds of years learned this sweet as well. But they make it w honey syrup. For me, which I tried Arabic Baklava as well, Turkish Baklava is not comparable with others. Its out of this world. Especially the ones w pistachios omg. Let me give you some other information about culinary. Yogurt is a Turkish word, coming from yogurmak. But Greeks are the first one who sold it to Americans. Plain yogurt was known as Greek yogurt. Thats why the founder of Chobani Yogurt who is Turkish named his yogurt as Greek yogurt. Bc he says that nobody knew Turkish yogurt, I had to sell as Greek yogurt: )And coffee. Arabs are the first ppl who planted coffee beans. Turks are the first ppl who bought coffee beans from Arabs and grounded it and cooked it in the water. So they invented Turkish coffee in 15th century. And Europeans are the first ones who learned drinkable coffee from Turks and invented Cafes: ) This information is also in Oxford Dictionary. Enjoy it: )

I know you said this is the baklava you are grown up with and I also know that arabic sweets look similar but taste differently. They are much dryer, less sweet and the pastry is somehow thicker. But the title says that this is classic baklava, which is just not true. Therefore I want to inform about the classic baklava, which is made of extremely thin layers of pastry sheets (best is 40 layers) and is never rolled but layered. You used brek pastry (and a premade one too, which is for savory filling. Even if you think it is thin, it is actually much thicker than baklava pastry. The filling can be walnuts, but the classic is pistachio. Last but not least, you never ever brush on the syrup. You actually pour it over the baklava, so it literally sizzles when the pastry absorbs the syrup. I know it is nice to have an easy recipe, but some dishes just arent the same when you oversimplify it. You wont get the experience of the real taste.

First of all, baklava has to be make with handmade filo pastry, second, filo has to be thinner when you open with the rolling pin, third, it has to have 40 layers of sheets and you shall see through outside when you look from the layer of the filo, fourth, before you cook the baklava, clarified butter has to be spreaded equally with brush, fifth before you put sherbet, there has to be something that will heat the tray equally before you put the sherbet so with the heat, layers wont get soaked by the sherbet when baklava is too hot. It might be alternative to baklava but if you want to make the original baklava, visit either Gaziantep whichs one of the Eastern City in Turkey, or London. In both of the cities, Turkish chefs making it fresh plus each became master after 10 years of training to be a Baklava Master. I hope it has been helpful.

It is NOT Baklava, Baklava is a dessert originated from Turkish people (the word baklava originates from old turkic language, and used by mongolian turks. Baklava is made by creating many layers, and using sherbet with mostly pistachio fillings. It would be a shame to call this egypt origin dessert baklava because it is simply a wrap up coated in butter. I am aware of the fact that she says it is how her family did it, but she uses baklava word so many times and it is just an knock-off baklava. I am not being xenophobic, but that is how it is, misleading. I am not triggered, and do not even care about what she does because it is clear she have not had any real baklava, which is pathetic.

First of all this is not a Baklava, second this is not a CLASSIC BAKLAVA. As a person who born in hometown of Baklava I can easily say you can cook it, you can eat it but you CANNOT TELL THIS SHIT IS CLASSIC BAKLAVA because i can understand every country can have own version of desserts but youre corrupting original. This video shouldnt exist, what a shame.

This is anything BUT classic baklava This is an insult to baklava, change the title this is something elseReal TURKISH baklava is made with pistachios NOT walnuts. And you spread it between at least forty layers of HAND MADE thin pastry sheets and at the end you pour the sweet melted sugar, not brush it. Google it and see

This is an insult to Turkish culture. You should come to our country and take a lesson before you make baklava again. And you must apologize for disrespect immediately. Bu yaptn Trk kltrne bir hakarettir. Bir daha baklava yapmadan nce lkemize gelip bir ders almalsn. Ve yaptn bu saygzzlk iin derhal zr dilemelisin.

Yeter vurmayn kz ld XD. It is OK that every culture has its own version of baklava. The problem is the title which says classic baklava which makes us wait for the real classic, layered recipe and that is why it feels like an insult or a joke. My husband and I had a good laugh at this whole thing.

If you guys seriously call this baklava and if you enjoy this I really pity you. That is walnut wrapped in a dough covered with sherbet but certainly you should not be calling this baklava, seriously just try turkish baklava for once and youll see what Im talkin about.
