Laundry Basket Turned Strawberry Planter Steph: 5 years on the internet spreading dangerous advice. Please do research everyone before using random things for food gardens! This plastic is not food safe, there are food grade/safe plastics out there. Dont take the cheap way out to use these. Chemicals from plastics leach out into the roots and then into the food your eating. Again this is very Dangerous. Its scary as to how many videos like this that keep getting suggested for me. I watch other garden videos but ones like this are just plain dangerous!

Did you use the Berry Treasure Strawberries? I wonder how this project faired considering you didnt add drip irrigation to it.
Im watching this after your recent upload of garden tour where you show how abundant your strawberries are that you planted in the galvanized tubs where the cut flower garden is.

Ok. For those who wanted an update, I did see an answer a year later from Laura to a comment about watering them in. She said the strawberry did well and even survived the winter. I guess she forgot to do a follow up video. Probably Too many new things to show

This works great! I used crowns and had the same basket and burlap sack at home. I love this because I don't have to use a bunch of straw to keep the strawberries off the ground and I will just put it in my shop during the winter. So easy

Hi had a look in season 3 and season 4 and could not for the life of me find a update over the seasons. Did you make one? Curious as am thinking of doing the same to basket not in use atm.

Can't help but wonder how these did and if its a good project that last more than one season. Seems like a fun idea if you're limited on space, like maybe a balcony?

Does anyone know. either from experience or educated guess - would this work for tomatoe plants? What other types of veg/fruit can I use this technique with? Thanks!

Do you water it the same way as regular plants? Just showering water from the top? Whats a good way to make sure all the plants are getting water and fertilizer?

I tried planting my strawberries in a laundry basket this year. All but one died and the burlap rotted. I was very disappointed but worth the experiment.
reply

Im not an expert, but I would think putting all the top plants on top of the strawberries would steal all the moisture for the strawberry plants.
