How to Identify Your Hydrangea Garden Answer Andy's: I love your video. I learned some things that I needed to know about my Hydrangea. I thought that Hydrangeas were summer time blooming plants. I bought a fully bloomed bright Pink Hydrangea at home Depot in March. The sticker on it said Merritt's Hydrangea, but I guess they have their own name for it. The bloom is pink with an 8 head and has blossoms that are about 1: in diameter on them. I live in Ontario, Canada, Zone #4. Can I transplant this plant outside when summer comes? And will it bloom all summer seeing it has been blooming all winter?

Which hydrangea will successfully grow in summer heat (temperatures ranging from 90-105) and in mild winter (temperatures ranging from 75-85) in clay type soil? In summer the temperatures reduce to an average of 75 and in winter the temperatures reduce to an average of 50. Hydrangeas is one of my favorite flowers and would love to know which will grow in the area noted. Please help if you can. I love watching your videos and I pass along the information you say to others that can plant and do the work, as I'm physically unable to.

A couple of comments. I had to slow down to 75%, you talk too fast. I would have liked to see a little more on how to tell them apart. Some look very similar. I would also like to have seen examples of growth on old and new wood. I'm a complete novice with these plants. Just moved in September and inherited them so I don't know what they looked like in the summer. I live in eastern Canada. At this point they're pretty much a big mess and I'd like to know more about old and new wood so I know whether I can cut back or not.

This is very informative! Thank you: ) Can you please do a video on Fall/Winter Care and when to prune Hydrangeas? I have recently bought a florist mophead hydrangea and they are currently losing their blue shade and turning a green colour now. Should I prune the the blooms now or later and will they be ok for next year? I have them on a container and will store in my garage in the winter as it gets really cold here in Toronto. Thank you for your advice: )

I live in Canada. I planted hydrangea paniculata in my yard. It has the most amazing fragrance when the flowers are in bloom. This is the first time I planted or dealt with hydrangeas and I absolutely love it. This plant comes back stronger and bigger yearly, and can tolerate sun. I'm enjoying this plant in my yard. I planted this few years ago and forgot the name of this hydrangea, until I saw this video. Thanks Laura for sharing this video

gardenanswer This is very helpful! I'm kind of shocked that they'll be selling Hydrangea (Big Leaf) here in San Diego (zone 10) since you mention that they're zone 5 plants. Mine flowered once, and no longer - it's in a partially shaded area, which I thought to be good since summers can be quite toasty here.

I just moved into a house with mop head hydrangea. The previous owner cut the centre part of the plant down to the ground and as you mentioned, it grows on old wood so now there is a big ugly empty gap in the centre which you can clearly see the centre. Any suggestions on how I can fix that? Thanks in advance!

How do I identify a hydrangea that's doesn't produce any blooms? I inherited a hydrangea and it has never bloomed. It has dark green thick spade shape leaves with jagged edges. The plant itself has a full round shape about 18 high. What type of hydrangea is it?
