Planting Our Downtown Pots Garden Answer Georgia: Love the City Pots! Very inspiring.
In a home situation, I would wait to pull the petunias but when doing City Pots I would make sure the pots always looked perfect, the way Laura does. You want to draw people into your business district to shop. I see the City Pots more as advertising than gardening.
People from landscaping/nursery backgrounds don't have as much of a problem throwing away plants that are still viable, home gardeners, not so much, I have a dead River Birch that I am sure is just resting! I do see the landscaping industry changing. My father, a landscaper, now composts a lot of his waste. He has come a long way.

I really understand now why you pull out cool season plants early. I have violas and pansies in my garden. I knew I should pull them out but was holding out because they were so pretty but now they have been hideous looking for a week or two because I haven't been able to get to them. I understand you would not want them to look bad because lots of people will see them. It would reflect poorly on you as a business and that is a reality a lot of your viewers need to accept. It also reflects well on your business if everything is well maintained.

Laura I have 4 acres of garden and winter is the time for me to do all the pruning, moving, planting for summer. So lots of back breaking work. But before I go outside to start I watch one of your videos and it gives me the enthusiasm to go out an tackle my jobs. I love your parents garden centre it is beautiful and so complete. I have worked in garden centres but in the rural community where I live we don't have any that can compare. I wish it was here in my corner of Australia

Hey Laura, I went to y'alls website to try and see what plants/seeds you sell. However, in order to even try to do that you've got to download a list. Why is the website set up in this way? It makes for a very clunky site that is no fun to try and navigate at all. I was hoping to purchase from y'all but wow. That site was a totally not fun. =( I'm sorry, but I figured you'd much prefer honest feedback versus fluff.

I quit using my coco fiber basket because I always had to line the fiber with a plastic bag (with holes) to keep the water from just running right through. Obviously I was using the thinner coco fiber. I'll be trying the thicker one as you suggested. Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious to me. LOL Love your videos and anxiously await every one. Vikki in VA.

Great video Laura, for people who live in a cooler climate such as the UK where I'm from you can get away with keeping pansies and other spring plants in slightly longer but even mine start to look overgrown, few flowers and leggy in May so you can image why they need replaced in your much hotter summer climate, and give the mid-season plants more time to grow and mature.

Hello Laura my name is Carla and I live in Portugal. Let me tell you I just love your videos. Your love for gardening, flowers and plants in general is so endearing and inspiring to me. I don't have a proper garden in my house, just a few plants here and there but I learn so much with you! Thank you so much a big hug from this part of the world!

Neat idea, planting what works best for the season, and reusing plants that are pulled! Very cool! P. s. I enjoy watching/listening to you/your mom work together. Sounds like you're productive and having fun at the same time. That's awesome!

Exactly what I've been telling the hubby re: violas.
Now about brown stuff you're showing us. I've purchased some from The Home Depot. Still not having good luck, so we have up. Unfortunate cuz I love the look in my hanging baskets.
