Planting a Front Garden Bed for a Friend! Garden Answer Blue: Love your choice of hydrangea. Just hope it lives up to the hype along with wee white. Not a big hosta fan but have used that variety because the leaf color really stands out. Love what you did but people always freak out about everything being dead in the winter so I would have tried to include a buxus microphylla little missy and maybe replace the anemones with hellebores, epemedium, or heuchera and reworked the front perennial composition. Used those hydrangeas with forever purple heuchera and loved the look. I think adding these hosta to that combination would be amazing

Pretty in summer, but in the mid-Atlantic, all these plants will lose their leaves in the winter. I think some small evergreens to keep some structure in the bed would be good. Otherwise all youll see is the water pipe and hydrangea stems half of the year. But i commend you for blessing your friend with a beautiful garden.

I absolutely LOVE this planting bed! My house faces North east and the plants closest to the house don't get much direct sun (if at all. Would the Invincible Mini Mauvette hydrangeas work? You mentioned in this video that this house faces north so I thought maybe it could work for my place?

My sister-in-law just began her battle with breast cancer. I just brought her three wigs from my friend who is battling stage 4.
She had breast cancer twice, had a mascectomy, implants and now it has mastesized.
Your friend is very blessed to have you. Prayers sent for her.

I love this! I hope your friend is doing well.
I have a part of my garden that gets a lot of shade. I will try this idea out. I might also add some ferns in there too or maybe bleeding hearts. Laura, u installed this 3 years ago. Any chance we can see how this looks now?

I just saw this video and loved what you did for your friend. I'm sorry to learn of her passing and understand how hard it is having lost my dear sister to cancer. May God look over her family and give them the strength to live life well until they all meet again.

I pray for her and her family, thank you for what you do. This actually is exactly what I was looking for to do in my front flower bed so win win, prayers for her, knowledge for me. Again, thank you! Praying for you as well!

Hi Laura, I'm in love with your fabulous work and knowledge. I live in Meridianville Al. I purchased a new home. I would love for you to help me put some color in my home if you ever be close to my area.

This idea will be perfect for my north facing garden that gets shade until about 3-4 pm. Are you able to suggest another hydrangea that would works in this situation in apple blossom colors if possible?

Prayers for your friend, hope she is doing well. I love your videos and have a perfect spot for this garden. However I live in houston. What would be a good substitute for the Japanese anemones?
