How to Make an Indoor Water Garden!
video description
Take it from someone who has been battling a shorefly infestation for a few years now, they are not fun. Limit your fertilizer use in the winter or learn how to tell when your plant needs fertilizing and you can reduce your risk.
If you really like growing plants in water, check out the betta cube from back to the roots, which allows you to incorporate fish into that water garden and is large enough for cooking herbs or small leafy green plants. Bettas may be able to live in a large enough water garden, but there's two things to be wary of. Bettas are aggressive loners with good visual acuity who hunt bugs. Because of that; 1. they don't like other bettas nearby and can see other tanks in the room with them. 2. They also have a tendency to jump to try and catch flying insects. They eat mosquitoes and flies near the surface of the water and were originally bred to keep mosquitoes out of rice paddies. Somebody just realized they could breed them to fight and make bets on the winner and that they could be bred to be very colorful. So don't put two betta tanks close together and make sure there's a cover on water gardens with bettas in them. That way you don't get them jumping either for joy or to conclusions that they need to attack that Betta in the jar next to theirs. XD Seriously, I'd bet they might even bash themselves to death on the glass.

one thing I do whenever I grow pathos is water is I get the small aquarium air pumps some air line and an air stone bury it in the substrate and have that run. it can help prevent the algae because the water gets disturbed more and it gives oxygen to the roots. but you would also have that airline sticking out of the jar which might not be as pretty. if you have lots of foliage you can hide it though

So you wash the already clean pretty much sterile environment with no surface for beneficial bacteria with those glossy pebbles absolutely no micronutrients no nitrogen phosphorus or potassium you didn't even sprinkle a little fish food in put some snails in and never change the water plants take nutrients out of the water you are not adding anything in there why would you clean it

Fun fact. There are certain aquarium plants you cant plant in substrate as they have a rhizome that rots if buried. Java fern, Anubias, and buce are all rhizome plants. The other ones you have are Amazon swords that prefer being buried at roots so youre good to go there. They love root tabs as well. Cool idea.

one word. Fluval. Way better than gravel and you don't need charcoal. You also don't need fertilizer for a while. You can also use flourish or fluval grow, a teeny bit of liquid and you're good to go! edit: Please take the plants out of the pots. The fiber it grows in actually stifles the plant.

cant grow many plants in that jar without CO2 injection and a stable nutrient source weather its from the water column or the substrate every plant uptakes nutrients different but some plants will do fine in a minimal environment overtime youll learn what melts in the jar and what doesnt

Tip:
Never or try not to wash the access jelly in the sink, not letting it go down the drain.
It might not look problematic but it can be, as long as there is liquid it can still expand causing future clogging problems.

Hi, very beautiful video. I don't think I can use this method because I want flowers for my kitchen window. But what a great video and tons of great details. I may just do this anyway, such a beautiful idea. LOVE IT!
