I Installed a Motion Alarm for My Parents!

I also love that when I was out of the province this summer I was able to see my cats come and go on the driveway and I liked that. When I was in another province I could talk to the courier at the door with a parcel. Amazing. All the settings are adjustable in the Ring app on my iPhone.
It's so nice to also have a live view if I want to look outside to see if the car is covered in snow, etc.

I'm late to viewing this video but Laura, you MUST install some of these in the gazebo area where that gopher ate all your tulip bulbs (where the pond used to be--he was probably the reason your pond lining tore) and in the front yard garden (the one that had all the tradescantia and that fountain that keeps flaking out on you. Those two areas had the most gopher attacks, no? That would be fun to see if you could catch the gopher before he eats FIFTY BULBS on you. Alternatively, you could think of maybe laying down some chicken hardware cloth anytime you plant bulbs, no? Anyway, fun stuff. Nice vid. Thanks!

I am SO glad you shared this - we need one of these! We live on ten acres of wooded property in the middle of nowhere. Our house sits at the end of a long lane towards the back of our property. You can't see the road from our house or any other neighbors. We've had people actually try to break into our home, so we have a security system and cameras all over which has helped us feel a little more secure, but this would be a big plus! Thanks again for sharing!

I live in a basement flat and people sometimes come down our stairs by mistake or parcel people say they delivered and they never came down. I installed a motion sensor camera that really is amazing so I can see what the parcel peeps do and know if theres someone there. I get a video alert to my phone in the app and Ive caught the neighbours cat a few times thinking it was his house haha.

That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I have an idea that I'm not sure if you considered. During the video you commented that we could choose to install batteries on the indoor unit instead of plugging it in. I would suggest that even if you're plugging it in, you should install the batteries. This way, if there was ever a power outage the unit would still work: )

Excellent video. always important to install a video like this one on ones property. Im glad you showed how simple it is to install cause sometimes you think the installation part is so complicated that it prevents you from doing it. Yes, I have one of these in my driveway, primarily for animals. It's the only reason why I've seen a cougar. I used to have 2 in my driveway, which was great, because then I could tell, say, if there was a mother bear passing through and how many cubs she had, and what direction they were going. May your parents never have quite the same need for it.

I don't know why but I feel like every time I would go to check it the person, animal or a car would be long time gone. It would have to be very close to me at home. What if it alarms me and I'm at the other side of the house? Maybe an animal would be there for longer, but person and a car just keep going.

the Ring motion lite is a step up from this one because it works with an app. it alarms you of the motion and then shows you a live pic of what set it off. then you can actually talk from that motion light through your app. It's awesome. We saw a Racoon walk across our driveway last night on it
