The squash looks amazing. I can see a large area in your new property for things like pumpkins and squash. Plants that spread out like that. No need to have to worry about containing it out there.
My late Father in law was an expert gardener and grew Silver Queen corn in North Carolina. He could tell by squeezing each ear as he walked down the row if they were ready to pick and eat. That always amazed me.

I know how exciting it is to have butterflies and humming birds in the garden
I was planting yet more perennials in a new garden space and this baby hummingbird was just fluttering around each plant as I planted them going from bloom to bloom as I was holding the plants I was beyond excited as we really don t see that many hummingbirds in our area
Gardening is so much fun

This is one of those videos that makes me homesick. Not only because of the beautiful vegetables, but because everything about where you are reminds me of my childhood and my farmer dad and our own garden. Especially the onions. Although we didn t grow onions in our garden. We used the ones from out in the field. For us it was yellow sweet Spanish gentle giants. (Huge onions.

Wow. I grew some veggies by seed for the first time. Started in March. I have lots of growth but no ripe tomatoes yet. My onion stalks flopped but my Spanish onions look more like pearl onions. Peppers doing ok. If I depended on my garden to eat I'd starve LOL. I'm in zone 5, northern MI. I have a feeling I'll be eating a lot of fried green tomatoes.

Love the onion harvest! I have NO Luck with onions, the largest I got was smaller than that plum you harvested. Not sure what I m doing wrong. Going to plant more this week since we came back down to the 80 s. My green beans did wonderful this year, froze them all! It s so nice to have your own veg to eat! Thanks for sharing your day!

Peppers and onions are handy to chop and freeze for cooking later. Someone gave me this tip for onions that start to sprout, just chop and freeze them (i was tossing them as I had WAY too many onions. They're so handy to have. You can lay them out on a pan and freeze slightly, then put in a bag, or I just did a half cup in a baggie.

i love your videos laura! i watch them everyday before class, I am a veterinary student. I have heard that yellow, red, orange, and green bell peppers all come from the same plant and the color just depends on how long you leave them on the plant. is this true or does variety matter?
ps tell cheddar and russell i said hi

Wish I had the space on my urban lot to plant as much as you do. Fortunately, I can [it in a small garden though. Am in the process of developing an English style garden in the front of my home. I think it will look pretty and still productive for flowers and vegetables.

Fabulous timing. My chore list today is harvest peppers, onions, beans, tomatoes and of course weed. Your harvest is amazing! You should store the baskets on the wall or even in the corners of the cut flower shed. They would even look pretty.

It's so much fun seeing you harvest all the goodies that you grow! You reminded me that I haven't made stuffed onions in a while. Think I'll do a meatloaf stuffed onions and some sliced tomatoes for dinner tonight yum yum yum

Good morning! Was wondering where you bought your Jade beans? I purchased mine from Baker Creek planted them twice and not ONE bean came up not even a sign they wanted to. Just wondering if anyone else had the same issue.

On the topic of harvesting. Does anyone else's tomato harvest just suck this year? I've only been able to harvest cherry tomatoes but all the bigger varieties are still green! It's middle of August!
