Planting 3 Beautiful Varieties of Ornamental Grass! Garden Answer I love ornamental grasses and would love to have more of them, but I only have a small suburban property and not many full sun areas. In this video, Laura talked about how she successfully moved White Wands Veronica in the heat of the summer. Laura, I'd love to see a video on how to increase the chances of success for moving several types of perennials like the veronica (you've inspired me to do this very soon. Did you cut them back before transplanting? It would be great if you could cover off several other perennials and transplanting them in the hot summer.

I just don't get it. I have some of the same things you do in my own garden, and yet, they look nothing like your plants. My firefly peach yarrow has just one or two blooms, its leaves are pale and sickly looking. Two of them didn't bloom at all. My rose frome proven winners is just ok. Not full and fluffy. My cats pajamas are puny. I cut them back, but their rebloom is wimpy at best. And my Amazing daisies never bloomed as profusely as yours even thought I've had them for 3 years already. In fact, they're dying in the center. What is wrong with my garden?

Hi Laura and everyone! I just love these three grasses! I recently learned how good these perennial grasses are for butterflies, other pollinators and little song birds too. They provide great cover from the sun and predators! Laura would you consider doing a garden tour of your grasses sometime this season, perhaps in Fall? I would so love to see what you've chosen as companion plants for your beautiful grasses -- I get so inspired by your eye for color and depth of plantings!

I would love a video of your favorite views of your garden. Like the view across the bed outside your kitchen door. I think you do this when you are talking, standing in front of a pretty back drop. It would be an opportunity to chat about what you love about a particular view and what you hope it will be in future. Hope that makes sense! In my garden these are places I like to put a bench or seating area so I can come with coffee in the morning and enjoy that view.

I m normally not a fan of planting ornamental grass in my garden, I spend all summer trying to keep the grass out of my garden from the lawn that the last thing I want to plant is more grass! But my word, I love the way that lemon squeeze looks! Reminds me of the purple fountain grass that I love to put in containers. You might have convinced me of ornamental grasses, just unfortunately the one I like won t survive in my zone three.

Every day that begins with Garden Answer is a good day. We are on vacation with our wee grandchildren in Tobermory, Ontario. Now, they too are hooked on your videos. When we sit down for breakfast, they say can we watch that garden lady this morning, Nana? The answer is always yes, and they watch just as intently as I do and ask all sorts of questions. Thank you for starting our day off so delightfully.

Lovely! I have two different grasses in my garden and love how they are so graceful. They bring such a completion vibe. Since I put pea gravel in my garden this year, I have been adding rocks the size from softball to basketball and a few larger for interest. Also some driftwood.
For planting in the ground I always water the rootball and also add water to the hole before popping in the plant.

Love the ornamental grasses, Laura. They will make a huge impact out there in a few years. and they are 4 seasons. I especially like the bluish one, but who can pick a favorite? They re all just so nice and each one brings something different. Every time I see that space I m awestruck at how fast it s filling in. It s looking more like a park everyday! What a huge accomplishment!

We just moved to our new house, from an apartment. Your videos are a good reminder that not everything will do great the first year you plant them, and areas can fill in over time. That makes me feel better about some of the small plants that are struggling through this hot and dry summer. I look forward to seeing both my and your gardening space develop over time. Thank you!

I love grasses too. Just an FYI, my Cheyenne Sky is easily double the width. I put mine in 3 years ago to hide utility boxes and it is doing just that. it is about 30 + inches wide and about 2. 5-3 ft high. GORGEOUS grass though. I'm in zone 7b Southern Maryland with lots of heat and humidity and decent rain so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Good morning, Laura! I have a couple in my cart, great timing on the video, as I was just telling my husband I need some grass texture in the garden, deer resistant, PERFECT. I was wondering if there was a video for care, like end of season, when to cut down, or if they can be left for winter interest. All have a great day, off to my garden.

I love ornamental grasses. Especially Karl Foerster. We have so many different kinds in our landscape, I wish I could add more. I mean I think we have somewhere around 113 different ones. And it takes at least 3 weekends to cut them down for the next season. Yikes I wish there were ones that stayed green and you didn't have to cut them down.

Here we go again! I think I don t care for a certain type plant, and then Laura s enthusiasm and excitement over them turns me into a believer. This time it s grasses! When we moved into this house in 2020 there were grasses everywhere overgrown and weird placement! Well now I ve put Lemon Squeeze on my garden bucket list! Thanks Laura!

Every time you put something new in the south garden I remember the first bush you planted. I was so overwhelmed by the big empty gardens. I kept thinking, how in the world will she fill all this space? Of course, I should never have questioned the Power of Laura. It is already like a dream! Absolutely gorgeous! You are an inspiration!
